This is insightful in my view, recognising that to quantify something it first must be turned into words. That is the point, wow, I really learned something today, whether I can do anything with this new knowledge is another thing, but I now have a much better understanding of what it means to be a discretionary trader.

How do we differentiate between "gut feelings" driven by fear or greed and those produced by extensive subconscious experience ? is that, at least, quantifiable?

@Timetells Good Morning,

I just placed a small trade. Trying something on 1 minute time frame. Worked out ok. Used Daily Open as a trigger and next Round number as exit. Waited an hour after Tokyo for momentum. I have attached the chart. Any input from you would be appreciated. Positive or Negative..lol

Looked a good clean entry to me pal ... from attractor TO attractor, well done.


I am a bit more conservative myself these days now as you know (I was more aggressive years ago),
And I don't want to hinder you from taking these trades (which I may have done a few days ago on GJ hahaa - sorry but that's me)

So I would usually myself wait now for a retrace (hopefully) which was the 15m arrow candle below (your entry was at the small candle one prior)

BUT
I would suggest to do exactly what YOU do, not what someone else (ie me) thinks.
You are the Trader
We live or die on our OWN trades not someone elses if you know what i mean.

YOUR trade overview from me was = "good clean entry at logical spot, sat through the retrace, and then TP" so VERY WELL DONE
(keep playing & observing on the 1min, its all the same as 15m, just broken down into smaller slots)
(as an aside, using the 1min, if you ever put up a pvsra vol indi you will see that things happened around your entry point, and again at mine later at the retrace)

I managed to find this indicator and applied to the chart. Not sure if it is the right indicator, though. There was some action in the indicator.

Yep, looks just the same as mine W


Reminder, these are not real volume like Kev & the futures trading gang will have. These are mt4 tickvol so are essentially just an activity counter.
As far as I know, one trade could be 0.1 lots and generate a single tick and the next trade could be 1.0 lots and still generate just one tick.
But it does show some increased market interest that we can observe.

ps I don't have pva on any other timeframe but the 1 min. Up to others to examine it (edit: I mean other timeframes) for themselves.
And. I don't use it for any specific trade entry, I go back to visual PA to establish that.

Yes i totally agree that these volume on MT4 are not reliable. Basically its just broker volume or ticks. No central market. As u mentioned it can show a bit of action when price enters or exits a certain location. We still need lots of other filters to validate that zone. It can be a small filter in 1 minute time frame. What the other participants are doing at that location is what we really need to know and how hard the sellers or buyers are trying to move the price. Never easy but at times big players just show up, maybe cos they are in a rush..lol.

I'd really like to look into using volume in my algos, is it possible to get the futures volume into MT some how?

forex markets have trading volumes 70 to 100 times greater than those of futures markets. That is why I doubt the significance of these volumes. But I could be wrong.

Price breaks a swing high, volume whether real or pseudo tick data increases, is it a breakout or climax before reversal to signal end of the move.
