People say shit happens, but people are stupid because they do this shit.
AFTER what I read here yesterday, I was devastated, frustrated, pissed of ... there is a lot more stupidity around than you even might expect ...
That reminded me an excellent essay of Carlo Cipolla, about human stupidity…

Hello all,

I would like to understand markets better and I come up with a basic question for which I can not find the answer:
Does market (aggressive) orders fill only limit (passive) orders? Or can market (Buy) order get filled also with market (Sell) order?

Thank you in advance.

I think it's normal to have some natural "rivalry" within highly competitive environments; and engaging in debates between different points of view, with proper dialectics, is indeed constructive. But as you say, the main issue with "online places" is partial anonymity (a double-edged sword, also good in many instances), hence facilitating dishonesty and/or hostility, guided by troubled egos and fake pride in several cases.

So yes, of course they are affecting themselves by wasting time and falling into a spiral of negative emotional interactions...

Why your question? Fortunately, I've been free of forums and social-networs >95% of my time. But hey, even a wee bit of interesting "gossip" can be sporadically entertaining. And most importantly, I really like some of these people after all.

PEACE

Market buyers and market sellers never meet. They just obtain a position using current limit orders already sitting in current liquidity.
This is why the markets are not a true decentralised market place.

If I want to buy your home, I can approach you and to a private deal. That can’t happen on a forex market so the market really works as a centralised market place in real actual usage. That is why we actually can obtain real volume levels when trading even though we shouldn’t be able too.

Ha Ha, another great result Ryan which goes with your earnings yesterday to adds up to nice weekly gains.

You know traders on Forex Factory often talking about trading NQ futures because it offers the most rewards in trading profits of every other market. Will they haven’t traded Crypto I feel yet.

LOOKSUSPT moved 15% in valued in a 30 minute period (actually not that special) which offers returns far greater than any US index can ever hope to offer.
Personally I took just 4% return on LOOKS but considering I was on a hut with bad internet at the edge of a 1500 ft cliff in a national park in Arizona - who’s going to complain about that.

Lastly our group got great news about a member who just had a new addition to their family, congratulations to N……. and her family

Ok guys, let's study few things a little.

What is volume?

Volume is how many trades was. What trades? Buys and Sells.
For example it there were 12 buys and 18 sells then the volume is 12 + 18 = 30.

Does price matter here? No. Price doesn't matter. Only quantity.

Attached Image

What is delta? Delta is the difference between buys and sells.
If our example 12 - 18 = -6, so the delta here will be -6. It is negative, since there were more sells than buys.

Why it is important? Because market orders push the price and rule the market. If there will be only limit orders around there will be be movement on the market at all. So information about volume and delta is very important.

okay today: +7.63% manual + and 1.15% auto

So we learned what volume is, what are market orders and what are limit.
Now what?

Now, we must check the things. What we have?

We have forex. There are no volume data available. All we have is "strange" tick-data. It is collected, smoothed, averaged data from many sources. Totally useless for trading purposes. All the things we can do with it is to draw candles. It will never say us how many buys were, or how many sells.

We have crypto. Here we have real trades data, so we can compute the volume and the delta. But. The problem here is that exchange websites do not provide that data as indicators and there is no ability to add custom one. You can use tradingvew, - you say. Yes. But here we have another problem: tradingview has no real traders data and it calculate the volume using about the same approach like fake forex tick data.

So what to do? The only way is to create custom charts with real volume and real delta on it. I'm on my way, so this screenshot is a first step for that.

So it must look like this:

You can see any chart you want, any timeframe, and you can see delta/volume (may be distance indocator too and many others if needed). Also there will be buttons to place trades.

Question for RyuRyu or RickM:

1. Do you analyse also Orderbook (DOM) or only Time&Sales (level 2 data)? Do you think that Orderbook (DOM) data is reliable and effective?
2. Is Binance a good source for trading data?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards.

Hi forkstrader!

I have EAs for forex, also I have several trading bots written on python for crypto. And a lot of indicators I made using tradingview pine script language.

But I'll not share them, I see no purpose to do it. I can share my custom charting, but with small group of traders only. I can share only if I see some will contribute too. For example one great trader shared his vol/delta approach with me. Another great trader shared her mt4 indicator (a copy of mine distance indi). Another one great guy teach me how to code with python. That I call a trading friends - we share ideas, approached, calculations, stats and so on. In this case I can share my work.

How delta works:

Attached Image (click to enlarge)

Name: screenshot.png
Size: 195 KB

it was just the top

Let me explain the mechanics of the market once again using this great example.

When big bull movement occur that mean someone start to hit buy button. When market buy comes to market it start to search for limit order to fill. Sell limit order.
When it filled next one will fill using higher sell limit order and so on. But remember that we see only limit orders in the orderbook and market orders in recent trades.
But we don't see positions and stops. But there are stop for sure. We know that stops are market orders too. Always. You have to write it down and remember: stops are always market orders. So how they act? Same like some hit buy button. Once stop triggered it start to search for nearest limit order to fill (to take the liquidity from it). That's why price jumps so hard.

But how we can use this situation? Since some want to buy and there are some stops that want to fill too then if the DELTA (difference between buys and sells) is very big - then we place SELL LIMIT ORDER. And it will be filled!
But, there are no more people who want to click buy. There are no more stops around. What will happen? Correct. Stops for longs start to work the same way. And it give us the ability to close the position using another LIMIT orders again.

That is how every market works. No support, no resistance, no fibonacci, no rectangles, no "liquidity" areas. That all exist only in traders imagination. Only limit and market orders! Only hardcore!
