The conspiratorial part of me says: Trump was using the "situation room" comment as a threat in the tweet. But he'll come out of there knowing; "if we get a response we don't like, we have these targets."

Another part of me says "shut the **** up you conspiratorial ***. The VIX is at 15.25, /CL is at 87.10, and equities are at all time highs......your theory is irrelevant".


In other news: do you see prices of space related stocks being bid like crazy for the past couple of days? If I'm Musk & Co, and want a solid IPO showing, dumping a few billion into Virgin Galactic (SPCE, up 28% today, 140% in a week)?? or PL (satellite imagery for farmers??, down 10%, then bought it all back) seems like a prudent play, yeah? Make everyone THINK that the sector is white hot.

The AI names are taking care of themselves, so no one needs to worry about the fact that SpaceX's AI portion posted $-2.5B in Q1 profits or that the entire company posted -$1.6B in 1Q profits.

I imagine that's the fear: if a country (US, Russia, China, Pakistan, France, Israel, India, etc, etc) HAS a nuclear bomb, then you have the ability to USE a nuclear bomb.......if you don't have it, you can't use it.

So, realistically, all bombs should be non-existent. But, just ask the US how that is going with gun control laws. The weapons are out there and "You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube", as they say. The only thing you can do is attempt to mitigate the proliferation.

Does it serve the best interest of countries WITH those weapons to prevent any other countries from getting them? Perhaps. But, let's face it, a nuclear war is going to end humanity if it ever kicks off like it is supposed to, so there's a reason these weapons have never been used again (after the first horrific example).

There can (probably are?) be much more destabilizing and less environmentally devastating "weapons" that will be used in future "world" wars. Do we remember COVID? Weaponized or not, that type of situation is clearly possible. It wipes out more than just your 'enemies' though, so perhaps not the most practical. Whatever the case, let's just hope we don't have to find out about what else exists....
