Tried to contact live chat. " the account you are attempting to reach is no longer active" But it is. Had positions open over the weekend trading on 4 hour charts , tight stops, 20 - 30 pips depending on pair.Stops not triggered on eur/usd sells lost about 600 pips ??? Usd/jpy lost more than stop loss. but not as bad as eur/usd. ?? The stops should have been honoured. This is what fxcm were fined millions of dollars for.Passing on negative slippage to customers and keeping positive slippage for themselves. Thought this had been sorted. Any explanation please Jason? Or anyone else more in the know.

These are weekend gaps. Stops are not honored because broker was closed. You are filled at best available price when market opens. This is Forex 101, my friend.

Right. I have a short position opened @ 10879.5 Eur/Usd. Opened 22.00 current British time. The price has not been that low. Did not have an order in anyway but price would not have hit it anyway. I'm down over 200 pips What The fucky fucky is going on?

Hi TGM,

If you're asking whether FXCM passes the positive slippage we receive from our liquidity providers onto our clients in full, then the answer is yes. This has been the case since our 2010 update giving traders the potential to benefit from price improvements. However, this would not prevent you from receiving negative slippage on stop loss orders when the best price available in the market is worse than your stop price.

Our execution stats show that while positive and negative slippage occur with similar frequency for FXCM clients overall, positive slippage is more likely on limit orders while negative slippage is more likely on stop orders due to the momentum of price movement when such order types are triggered.

  1. 78.71% of all orders had NO SLIPPAGE.
  2. 12.77% of all orders received positive slippage.
  3. 8.52% of all orders received negative slippage.
  4. 50.2% of all limit and limit entry orders received positive slippage.
  5. 39.9% of all stop and stop entry orders received negative slippage.

If the market price gapped through your stop level over the weekend when trading was closed, then your stop order will be filled at the best available price when it is triggered after trading reopens for the new week.

FXCM offers the exact same spreads for MT4 users as we do for users of our other platforms like Trading Station and NinjaTrader. Please note that we offer three different account types: Mini, Standard and Active Trader. It's possible your MT4 charts are displaying the spreads for the Mini account type and you were comparing these to Standard account spreads you saw on Trading Station. However, both spread types are available on MT4. You just need to be connected to the correct MT4 server. The minimum balance to open a Mini account is $50. If your Mini account balance exceeds 20k, it will automatically be converted into a Standard account.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your help. I do have both trading station and also MT4. But I keep my live account on Trading station as I am more comfortable with it. What I needed to ask you was if I could shift my EMA to the left not up or down that your Zero Lag Moving Average can do. Can you please help?

Hi Okoso,

To clarify, while the Deviation input for the Zero Lag Moving Average indicator shifts the indicator line up or down in position, the Filter input filters out recent price data to remove the lagging characteristics indicators like the traditional EMA. It does this by tracking current prices more closely than older prices.

Does FXCM use the plugin to run your stops?
Not once, but twice today within seconds of placing my stops at BE+1, price moved against me just enough to trigger my stop and then price returned to where it was.
Am I THAT UNLUCKY?

Hi TooSlow,

FXCM uses no such plugin, and we do not hunt your stops.

For Standard accounts (5k minimum opening balance) and Active Trader accounts (25k minimum), we use No Dealing Desk (NDD) forex execution. That means each client order is offset one-for-one with the best prices from competing liquidity providers. Therefore, we don't profit from client losses or lose from client profits on the NDD model, and have no reason "to run your stops".

Furthermore, it's worth noting that we use the same base price for DD execution on Mini accounts (before adding the spread markup) as the base price we use for our NDD execution (before adding the commission). That's a key reason you can have confidence trading with FXCM regardless of the account type you choose.

I don't know how close you are setting your stops to the current market price, but is it possible you haven't taken into account the bid-ask spread when looking at your charts? If you have doubts about the execution of a particular trade, I encourage you to file a trade inquiry.
