Try to become a psychopath.

One other methode is to concentrate on your tradesystem, not on the results. If you know that your system works, you don't mind loosing some trades. In fact every single trade is irrelevant, because a good system is based on probability. If you have a lot more than 50% chance on winning, who cares about some incidental losses.

Lovely advice, Its still hard for me, I just started trading live over the last few weeks, and have made some huge losses cause I couldn't control my emotions, everytime I jump in the market, it would rush against me. I have learnt now not to stare at the numbers all day long. Do the technical analysis, set the stops and tp and walk away, or do some reading.

It was so much easier trading forex on a demo, you don't realise how much emotion goes into a live trade until you do it, its like learning how to trade forex all over again.

In all seriousness; if you are having trouble staying calm during trading take up the study of one of the marshal arts. Boxing, judo, karate etc.etc.
The problem is you should find an instructor that is interested in the craft as an art form. A true practitioner of the sport. If you can find someone that has competed on the national or above level and done ok then you probably have found a good one.

The whole theory in a nut shell is; if your mind and body are relaxed you can react to any situation faster and appropriately. For instance if your arm muscle is tight, to move it you must first relax the muscle then activate it to move in a desired direction, two steps. If it is relaxed you just move it,one step.

The same thing applies to your mind. Mark Douglas touches on the relaxed mind in his book "Trading in the Zone".

Besides all of the above you will feel better when you get your butt out from in front of that computer.

I've found this to be true for myself also. One form of "Soft Martial Arts" i've used for several years is Chi Kung, specificaly a form as taught by Kam Chuen Lam in his book The Way of Energy. You'd be suprised at the strength gained, both inner and outer.

I couldn't agree more.

Let me add: Think of a trade objectively. A trade is a trade, nothing more. So, see it in the proper perspective. That is, it's just a very tiny part of our whole trades--including future ones. If we have a trading plan, few lost trades aren't detrimental.

A profitable and well tested strategy in all condition of the market , a good deposit, minimal leverage, a consolidate exprerience. Trading is as to learn to climb mountains. You start with easy wall with all the protections and go on to grow until to climb big wall without any protections because you have developed a complete power up your self. Meditation can help, but constant pratice and humility to learn as eternal beginner are the best.

I don't think that a trader can become completely emotionless, no matter what they do. That's just not human nature. But one can learn to keep one's emotions under control with a lot of practice and experience.

I don't see any problem in controlling your emotional state in trading. Just work out money management plan and follow it. Tight SL's and fixed losses help me to avoid emotional tension with can occur only in sudden blowups.
If you trade without SL's then yes you have something to worry about.

hahahaha well being a psychopath it a bit exaggerated but, its not really about being emotionless, its still gonna be there, but yeah, keep your self in check, its about having the right mind set when trading, we all know when we commit mistakes, thats a good reminder of things to avoid, hold on to that sad feeling when we make stupid mistakes as a reminder to avoid it in the future, another thing, is being logical, the right RR ratio comes in to play, be ready for a lose just incase it would be easier to let go of it, never play the angry loser trade, it only tripples the loses. just stay balanced, stick to the plan (as long as its a good one) stop blaming things or people for loses, loses are there and there is no such thing as a 100% winning streak, personally i have blown couple of hotforex accounts through the years, till i managed to get a hold of my self and grow my current account to where it is today. its just that!

Anger, greed, fear, even elation over profits one's made can cloud a person's judgement. One should always strive to keep themselves as cool-headed as possible while trading and deal with the emotions afterwards.
