Hi iamhewho, interessting approach. Principally it is just a trend-following strategy with entry after pullback. I like it, because it is so simple. I had fun to make a EA and test around a bit... If you allow and are interested, I am willing to share the EA here for you. If not, I fully understand. The EA could help you to find best way to trade your strategy, best trading time, timeframe, trendfilter, min body size, min wick size etc.... So just tell me and I will post it here.

I wish you good luck with your new approach.

go for it , i may not want it but someone else might, ive just provided very basic rules and i think other people are, are coming u p with ideas, all welcome

just 1 trade today , as ive been waiting all day for my regular strategy and couldn't focus ,

gold has been a bitch today

1 trade on an hourly wick fill , closed early 1.08% profit

i guess only need average 1% a day for 20% a month, but still , nothing burger day

so the other 2 trades are just my regular strategy which was down today

edit :: not done yet , ive decided to crack on , will update images when im done for the day
. volume has died , calling it , took 1 more trade on the 15 m, ive updated images

Ok, here is the EA. Have fun with testing and optimizing (Sorry for the name of the EA, it was late evening and I think I was a little too creative ). If you have good results with some settings, please share here. I have no time currently for running optimization circles.

And also: Please use only in demo accounts. I am not responsible for any loss you make with this EA.

I think all inputs are easy to understand. Only this two here I need to explain:

the first one is the wick to body ratio. So how big the wicks should be. ratio 1 would mean the wick is as big as the body. 0 is off...
the second one is simply the tp ratio. So where should the take profit be. 1 would mean exactly at the end. 0.5 would mean exactly in the middle of the wick... 0.9 would mean, the tp is after the wick is filled 90%. I hope it is clear. If needed, I can change the inputs name. Again, it was late evening

no stop loss at all? that would be nuts

bigger stop loss? sure why not, ive thought about it, but sticking with a tight one myself

ok day 3: best day yet, stopping early (just because)

3.78% profit . 1 of the trades on image 2 is a different strategy (so ignore)

ive noticed today that often when in a sell for example , rather than having that tight stop loss same size as target TP i actually have the sl at the top of the newly created top wick , ( example in image 3)

little bit of slippage today in my favour which is good as i was worried about slippage

anyway today was nice a chill, felt good

My stop loss was hit today. In hindsight, that was my mistake. The price action I was anticipating materialized briefly (the 'wick got filled'), but I was being overly ambitious in my target (1000 points). I'm hoping for a better recovery tomorrow

when i looked back at the 4 h candles (just eyeballing) i didn fancy it for this strategy, but im glad someone is trying it

day 4: just 1 trade today , 30 min wick fill

just had a stressful 30 min candle wick fill, it just tapped me in then flew up, i was confident it wanted to fill some of the wick so my SL was big, like full 10% big

i think I've got chart fatigue this week, gold has been difficult this week

so calling it a day early

now i know, with -10% max draw down, i need to be achieving a higher daily percentage , id say around 4% minimum, ill do better/ more next week , i dunno if its the xmas break or what , but trading is really taking it out of me this week lol

i will make a discord group, and people who want can join and trade this strategy together, with whatever small variations you have.

only if it makes + 20% this month and i decide to continue

Thanks a lot, suggestion, could you add a martingale option for recovery? I have tested and I think the EA should be able to recover fairly quickly, not a lot of losses in a row.

Greetings ,

an indicator to highlight candle the opens and closes within a wick would make this easier to operate .
