If you want to trade without emotions then you can automate your trading because there will be no emotions to automate the trading.

I used to think I had to kill my emotions to trade well, but that just stressed me out more. What helped was journaling my trades including how I felt. I started seeing patterns, like overtrading after losses. Also, once I lowered my risk per trade, I didn’t feel so panicked or greedy. Emotions didn’t disappear, but they stopped running the show. You don’t have to be emotionless just disciplined enough to follow your plan no matter how you feel.

I think it impossible to Emotionless. You can't become EA by your self. Think about don't overlot+overtrade+MM is better for survive in market.

Automation will only remove the emotion from entering a specific trade. But here will still be the emotional concerns about the efficacy of the robot. There will still be the fear that the robot will lose money, especially of you have days / weeks of drawdown. The only way to be truly emotionless is to use a strategy that you have complete faith in. Once that you know will produce strong long term results.

To react less emotionally, try deep breathing and taking pauses. Look at the situation from the outside, focus on facts not feelings. Sometimes it’s better to admit you might be wrong and just let it go.

What made me far more ‘emotionless’ was a pre-trade checklist and fixed position sizing. If a setup misses one criterion, it’s an automatic pass. Emotionless isn’t numb, it’s sizing small enough that a loss is boring and the rules speak louder than the amygdala

I’m really struggling with my emotions during trading sessions. What definitely helps is to patiently wait for the right opportunity, open a trade, and then just let it play out. Sometimes I step away—go for a swim, take a walk in the forest, read a book, or do something else to clear my mind. Sitting in front of the monitor only fuels emotions.

You don’t really “become emotionless,” you just stop letting emotions drive your trades. Build a rules-based plan and stick to it, size positions so losses don’t sting, and review trades after hours when you’re calm. Over time the process does the heavy lifting, and the emotions fade into background noise.

The point about 'Think of something else' is actually kinda genius for the moment when you're already panicking. Just listing all the states? Yeah, that could totally kill the flow of the panic attack. But for actually solving problems, you need some emotion, right? Like, motivation? Trying to be 100% emotionless seems like a way to stop caring about everything, not just the bad stuff.

You're so right. It is not about becoming emotionless, it is more about you being present and aware of what you are doing, cause if you are, the emotions can be under control, if all of the sudden your SL is hit and your reptilian brain tells you to ACT NOW.
The problem the more you listen to your reptilian brain - the more it talks and grows.

This is exactly the advice I needed years ago. In my case, position size and leverage amplified emotions. It was incredibly boring to demo trade or trade live with small positions sizes, I didn't know it at the time but these addictive emotional highs & lows---essentially emotional gambling---was what was kept me from being profitable.

Reducing position size until trading felt "boring", i.e. emotionless, and mastering the art of cutting losers was the turning point for me.

Yes, this matches my experience. Smaller position sizes + less leverage = less emotional reaction to both wins & losses. I resisted trading small for a long time because it felt boring and slow, instead I tried to continue trading big while focusing on trading psychology. Big mistake.

Trading small with low leverage = "emotionless" trading for me.

that’s basically the closest thing to “emotionless” I’ve found in years of trading. You don’t delete emotions - you build a process (pre-defined risk + automation + journaling)

What I found useful is to stand up and push the chart to the far right of your screen; walk back a few steps and check if its the right place to get in.
