US Job Openings and Labor Turnover – July 2025
The number of job openings was little changed at 7.2 million in July, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the month, both hires and total separations were unchanged at 5.3 million. Within separations, both quits (3.2 million) and layoffs and discharges (1.8 million) were unchanged. This release includes estimates of the number and rate of job openings, hires, and separations for the total nonfarm sector, by industry, and by establishment size class. US job openings at 7.2 million in July
The number of job openings in the United States stood at 7.2 million in July, decreasing from 7.4 million recorded in the month prior, missing expectations, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics report published on Wednesday showed. Additionally, the job openings rate was at 4.3%. According to the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), the number of hires stood at 5.3 million in July, as opposed to 5.5 million in the previous month. The rate of hires came in at 3.3%.
