A lot of people ask how to calculate delta.
First you must answer the question: delta of what you want to calculate? Delta is the difference. So:
Delta of limit orders in the orderbook? Or delta of real trades?
By saying Delta I mean delta or trades.
To calculate it just sum all buys, then sum all sells, then deduct sells from buys. For a given period. That will be delta (cumulative) delta for period.
If you want to have real-time delta just start your calculations when you want and do not drop values every minute/hour or what tf you are using.
For example, you can have some table this way:
This shows us sell volume, buy volume, total volume (buys + sells), delta (in fact it is cumulative delta per minute) and cumulative delta per given period. Here it is 20 min. Just as example, you can count any you like.
Why no delta or orderbook? Orderbook contains only limit orders. They are "I wish to" orders. Like I want to sell BTC at 69000$, but you want to buy it at 6$. Delta of orderbook is for sure important thing, but it most cases it can be spoofed, it can show unreal "walls" and as for me it just make no sense. It is like cumulative delta for a very big period. Who cares what happened yesterday?
But again, this is my approach. I can be wrong and, for example, you are very good in trading cumulative delta and orderbook. Why not.

BUT To trade with the Footprint charts on fast moving markets is a HEADACHE needing three pills and a stiff drink.
we know guys and girls in our team who use footprints to trade. As for me it is crazy

And one more thing for all:
Do not search for holy grail. You can be successful with footprints, or with orderbook. Or with recent trades. Or with cumulative delta. Or with delta + stochastic.
It doesn't matter much. The main idea is that:
1. Market orders move the market. Always.
2. Stops are market orders. Always.
3. Stops are guaranteed liquidity and free fuel for big player.
4. Volume is the key indicator of market activity.
In this case all we have to do is search for market imbalance, for the vacuum, created by big player. And jump with them.
Let's say we are copying big player behavior and working with against retail traders. So losses of fancy lines drawers are our profits. Liquidation engine is our friend. Tears of empty deposits are our glory
Now I need to wave a flag and claim to have got one up over ryuryu last night trading crypto. Normally he gets the bottle of wine at the end of the night for best trading result - but I edged him out and hopefully wiped the smile off his face. He will probably win tonight but I enjoy our battles. Shit I hope he doesn't read this post or he may take me apart tonight. Combined result for us - +8.6% just using Delta as King.
In fact I'm winning because of bots, I just make more trades daily. But your entries are more accurate because of experience

+7.58% today The day is not really over, but I'm a little bit tired today. All day long I was coding and the volume was low. Then it start to rise and three amigos immediately jumped into trades. What you need to trade: 1. Distance. You can call it ATR, ADR or whatever. I just use ema 6 high * 100 / ema6 low. That is distance in %. I trade if it is bigger than 0.35%. 2. Average volume per minute. I prefer to trade if it is >100k$/min. To get it just multiply ask on asset price. 3. Delta. That is all you need. Stay green!
Appreciate you sharing your trading idea. Can you please clarify the below:

Assuming...
ema 6 high is 1.2350
ema 6 low is 1.2330
According the above logic, it works out as [1.2350 * 100 / 1.2330] = 100.16
Maybe I am missing something here - Hope you can clarify.
