How to Become Emotionless

But doesn't it help having some emotions towards it? cause i prefer having some emotions to make right or wrong decisions.

Does meditation really help?

Emotions can be well controlled with the experience that we gain with every passing day, which we called as reaching towards maturity.

Wow, this is a great topic. I really believe in the powers of meditation and think it can help tremendously with traders.

I always try to meditate, but always fell to a sleep...LOL...

And in the current circumstances meditation may help a person remain calm in these trying times.

Meditation will surely help in being emotionless although I have not tried it. But I do deep breathing in and out before taking any position. It's part of my trade plan.

I think it's impossible to avoid emotions in trading unless you fully automated the process. We are humans and tend to make mistakes.

Emotionless is rather a big ask for a human being, I'd say. But it is possible to control your emotions and, more importantly, avoid emotion-based trading decisions.

I think the most important aspect is position size, relative to account size. Over the years I've gradually increased my position size as my account grew but eventually I reached a point where I started to become overly emotional whenever I put on a trade. I'd start to worry if the market moved against me a little and I'd have sleepless nights thinking about individual trades. I eventually worked out why - I was trading too large a size. It's my belief that most people have a size limit they should adhere to, regardless of account size. Once I worked out what mine was, I went back to trading calmly and making good analytical decisions based on what I saw instead of what I felt.

Another aspect is confidence. By that, I mean confidence in your decision making based upon something tangible. I have confidence in my strategy long-term and so it's easy for me to look at each trade as meaningless by itself. It might win, it might lose. It doesn't matter much to me. What matters is the sequence of trades that make up my week/month/year. Conversely, those who stumble from system to system or try to trade using a methodology they aren't expert at will likely feel a whole lot of emotion.

So, my advice is two-fold. Trade much smaller than you originally planned and use a strategy you have developed concrete confidence in.

I agree. It's important to be confidant when one trades, but that must stem from one's actual knowledge and experience. There's a difference between confidence and recklessness.

Well yes, to some extent. It keeps you calm and composed and that helps you stay less affected by emotions and make right decisions. However results might be subjective.

I agree now as i have just started doing it and it has really helped me to maintain calm and less bothered by emotions to some extent. However, i do not meditate so much but it is helpful.

How do you keep your stress under control then?

By taking charge of the issue,managing time well and exercising daily.

Are you a natural trader? I am not.
Recently I realized that I have two different personalities in parallel. There is a man and a trader.
I am a terrible trader myself, because I am:
I'm not patient.
I like to take risks too much.
I don't like to plan anything in advance.
The three qualities mentioned above should have completely destroyed all possible chances of my success in trading. However, this did not happen. Because I was able to create my own trading alter ego. As a trader, I am:
Unbelievably patient.
I don't expose my trading account to unnecessary risks.
I plan my trading.
My alter ego wakes up every time I open my trading platform.
Why do beginner traders have so little chance to succeed in trading on financial markets? Because trading is incredibly difficult. You'll have to actually change yourself and go beyond your own comfort zone. In other words, you'll practically become a different person.

Yes, I agree with you. To succeed in trading one needs to be ready to make necessary changes. It is natural for us to want life to be certain. But trading is naturally uncertain. It sometimes takes a paradigm shift to think in probabilities.
Any trader that is not ready to make these changes will be a frustrated trader.

Some take meds, true story.. the guy was explaining to me that when he takes some of prescribed (I think), for that precise reason.. he becomes like a zombie and could not care about human emotions/drama and be 100% effective, reasonable.. Forgot about the downside... I think it was that he didn't give a single f... too much

Also, there are trainings, mental or whatever.. where you detach yourself from emotions or FOCUS on ONE GOAL so much that all other gets noise... Can be done even with one simple question "Will this move bring me CLOSER to GOAL or FURTHER from it"? Many can be solved with this... ego et al... That is part of being a true pro... doing something or with somebody, even if you don't like you, if the ENDgame outweighs/repays it all

A trader cannot trade emotionally because it is a natural emotion of a person. If you feel sad emotions, it is best to pause trade

just kill puppies and kittens since your young age...then you'll become insensitive and you'll be good to go with trading XD
