you have to consider, the gulf energy sale assets are all parked in western financial markets, particularly murika, this includes saudi - which makes them very vulnerable, including lacking any autonomy - murikan military have kept the saudi monarchy protected since brittain lost its empire status(before it was the british who did this) this protection is not only from foreign powers, but mostly domestic - this monarchy is HUGELY unpopular, its the only regional monarchy who actually have a considerable amount of indigenous population, compared to UAE or Qatar or Kuwait, which have imported up to 90% of its citizens - when prince faisal of saud monarchy in Arabian peninsula was at the throne (the only domestic and regional popular crown prince from the saud blood-line), he dared to challenge murika and the genocidal rapist illegitimate colony occupying Palestine, he was behind the oil crisis in 73 when he put embargo on western nations supporting the war against Palestine and Arab countries - he was assassinated 2 years later and since then, saudi monarchy have been kept in tight leash by murika.

all persian gulf monarchies cannot decouple even if they wanted, they would lose all their assets in western countries which amounts to several trillions of dollars - this is what is keeping up the murikan stock market alive, in return they get murikan protection - or so they thought until this war.
