US industrial production up 0.7% in January
Industrial production in the United States grew by 0.7% in January compared to December, according to a report by the Federal Reserve on Wednesday. Compared to a year ago, industrial output rose by 2.3%. Manufacturing was up by 0.6% month-on-month and 2.4% annually, mining fell by 0.2% from December, but improved 2.5% from January 2025, while the utilities production jumped 2.1% on a monthly basis and rose by 1.1% year-on-year. Capacity utilization was up to 76.2%, 3.2 percentage points below its long-run average.
