    Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell downplayed dissenting votes against Wednesday’s decision to lower interest rates again, but a slew of finer details from the meeting revealed just how divided the central bank has become. Powell pushed through the quarter percentage point cut not only over the objection of a few voters. A much larger group of regional Fed bank presidents who participated in the debate but weren’t among this year’s voting roster also signaled they opposed the cut. Waiting for Trump to replace Powell. Until then, no further cuts are expected. By Trump, I mean his buddy.
Powell already stated that even if jobs number comes out worse than expected, that they won't really be taking that into account. Also, he said that he believes that we should be seeing tariffs effect fully by the end of the first quarter. All-in-all, there is high likelihood we won't be seeing any rate cut from the Fed for as long as Powell remains the chair. It's also likely that the Fed will continue to cut rates from June onwards, perhaps by even bigger cuts. There's no time history that central banks have cut rates from the peak all the way by 25bps. They start easy with cuts as always until something breaks on the way down.

There will not be any rate cut again until after Powell leaves office because he must maintain the integrity of the FED and not box in his replacement. He knows that DJT is gonna wanna cut more rates going forward, so there is no point of taking the bullets away from his replacement, that's not a nice way to handover the job. Plus, there is no benefit for Powell to continue cutting rate prior to his departure because time and economic data is on his side.

powell thinks we're on the upper bound of neutral now, and thats where Powell wants it. Higher for inflation, neutral for employment.

inflation eases and he can go towards lower end of his view of neutral

There will be more Fed cut in 2026, and we are looking this forward. Which means Dollar is bearish and will stay like that until 2026. Sell dollar, buy metals like silver, gold.
