I have Oanda account for over 5 years. I traded infrequently, everything was fine . I begun trading a lot 2 months ago. Suddenly 2 weeks ago I begun experiencing communication errors. I tried different computers- the same problem. I cannot enter trade for few minutes. I think problem is Oanda side. Any ideas how to solve it?
This is what happens when trading with a broker who holds the other side of your trade. They will pull all the tricks to make you lose. C'mon, Oanda fans, tell me I'm wrong like you always do, but its the facts. Told everyone about FXCM years ago and people always wanted to debate. Of course, those people don't come on and debate any longer. Forex.com is an absolute scam as well. I feel so much better with my "unregulated" offshore broker. I know, those same US broker fans tell me I'm crazy, but I do not experience any of the issues people complain about with these US brokers.

usually good moments to trade seconds or minutes, they do not last hours. I am not holding my trades for months, I am not able to forecast this far in future. Most of my
trades last for minutes or hours. Now, it takes me few minutes to enter or close a trade. And they say they "investigate" the problem , already for 2 weeks.

except oanda never had a single fine/complaint levied against them in +10years they've been in business...

fuck i'll pay a bit more in spread for that kind of reputation..

You can continue to be naive if you wish. Yes, a freezing platform will prevent a scalper moving in and out all day as will random price spikes. Bottom line is, why would one broker have a price spike which doesn't exist elsewhere? Hey, if you're happy, keep trading where you trade. I ,personally, will never trade with a broker holding the opposite side of my trade. How can you possibly think they won't cheat if they make money when you lose and they control the software? That's just living in complete oblivion in my opinion.

Who says anything about scalping??

Do you seriously believe the average retail trader spends his time scalping the Forex all day?

Come on.

That said some FX brokers can and do play tricks on some traders, no doubt, especially the scalpers and other very short-term traders.
You know, the ones who try to outsmart their broker with a 7 pip stop.

If you are a consistent winner on the higher time frames (4h charts or more for example) and your stops are wide enough (or not even visible on his/your platform) your FX broker will simply start copying your trades, believe it or not...

An email that I just sent to Oanda:
on 6/16/17
At 17.20 eastern time I called your phone number. I got the usual recording that says "your expected wait time is between 2 and 10 minutes."

After waiting 15 minutes it rang, then went back to the same recording.

After waiting 26 minutes it rang again, then went back to the recording.

After waiting more than 30 minutes it was approaching 18.00 eastern time (your closing time) and still no one had answered, but your recording still said the same 2-10 minutes wait time.

Every time that I have called your company the wait time has ALWAYS exceeded 10 minutes....usually 15 to 25 minutes.

If you won't staff your customer service phone adequately, at least be honest about the dreadful wait times and update the recording.

I will post my experience on the Forex Factory, Oanda thread.

I m live with OANDA for about 1 year, never had a problem to withdraw money. Also trades are executed immediately

Only problem is you are paying way too much in spreads and/or commissions. Depending on your trade size, this eats tens of thousands of hard earned profits.

i agree. oanda is on the expensive side
i've been with them for nearly 10 years, no issues, BUT ,it's their reputation that's holding me back. Kind of like i phone users. Nowdays, iphone has no tech advantage, in fact some phones are just better. But you wont see people leaving i phone, because of its brand. Oanda has a brand in the US as being safe

still, i'm more and more inclined to try out offshore. I can put 1/3 of what i'm trading now at offshore with 200x leverage and have slightly more buying power.

This is exactly what I do. Especially since the NFA does not allow segregation of funds in forex accounts, your money is not protected anyway. I simply feel I have way less at risk offshore as I keep 70-75% of my trading capital in my own bank account, where it is FDIC insured. I'm going to send you a PM explaining exactly how I do it. I'm short on time right now as I am on vacation up north, but I will contact you tonight.
