What's the new name going to be?
Hello all, new on this forum thread, but I'm little surprised of all these negative comments about FXCM. Are you all referring to FXCM US or UK?
Are you surprised that the FXCM platform constantly shuts down before large movements in the market? It has been doing this for years and FXCM never gives a rational explanation for why they continue Feed Choking their own Platform when they know a large move is coming. I am surprised that you are surprised. This kind of behavior along with Slippage, Re-Quotes, Spread Widening Around Critical Price Levels, etc., has been the routine practice of FXCM since its inception almost and it has only gotten more blatant, more in your face and more up your nose than it used to be. Today, they do it with a high degree of arrogance, while you are locked-out of entering, adjusting or exiting a position during a significant movement in the market.
Might you have an explanation for platform Feed Choking?
You won't find the term listed anywhere officially. I just made it up because it perfectly describes exactly what takes place just seconds before a significant move in the market that is expected. Your platform will often times see its Feed being Choked or cut-off until after the significant move is over and you cannot enter, alter or close your position. Feed Choking. I like that way that sounds. I think that qualifies as a new entry into Investopedia. I think people should start asking themselves these questions:
- Has your EA been Feed Choked today?
- Have you been Feed Choked out of an opportunity today?
- Has your position been Feed Choked to a Stop?
Seriously. This Feed Choking is a lot like Water Boarding, or Ethernet Captivity. Ever have your trades suspended in Ethernet Captivity? Ever have your trading methodology Feed Boarded? Hey, there's another one: Feed Boarding. I like that. I'm getting really good at this stuff.

Feed Choking is not nice. However, it does provide good parody material.

Let me guess...you are the type of guy who screams "Fire" in a crowded movie theater when someone walks in with a lit cigarette.
But, what the heck do I know. I'm just a newbie rookie Trader anyway, so my comments really don't have that much experience behind them. I don't know what the hell I'm doing in this business. However, I do know Feed Choking when I see it.
The term "Feed Choking" needs to become synonymous with all Retail Bucket Shops. But, again, I'm just a rookie. I'm still learning what the term Spread means. Or, was that Spread Hijacking? Oh, geepers - I don't remember anymore.

What's next FXCM? I mean, really. What other circus tricks do you have up your sleeve? Seriously, inquiring minds wanna know.
That Feed Choking stuff? That nonsense needs to stop right now.
You cannot have a functioning market when you constantly do crap like that. That's not even remotely fair play. Just stop it. Find another way to scam your customer, not Feed Choking. Feed Choking is not just unethical, it is downright rude. It is like a slap in the face to your customer. Discontinue Feed Choking as a Company Policy and Company Tactic, immediately.Don't merely take a break from Feed Choking your Platform. Abolish all Feed Choking on all FXCM Trading Platforms as a weapon against your Customers, forever.

FXCM should be exposed to the same risk factors that its customers are exposed to when they trade the market. Feed Choking creates an inherently unfair market highly slanted and skewed in favor of the Intermediary and its "Preferred Clients/Customers." End all Feed Choking of the FXCM Trading Platform, immediately.

Still waiting on an answer for what caused this to happen yesterday (3/10/2016). This kind of platform behavior is persistent and goes well beyond the previous excuses given over the years. Something is causing this to happen precisely when FXCM knows or expect a major market move to take place. FXCM Feed Chokes its Platform, effectively locking out Traders from entering, editing, or closing positions. Why does this continue to happen on the FXCM Platform, while NOT taking place on some other FX Trading Platforms?

The Platform was Feed Choked and disconnected while the market was moving for approximately 103 pips to the North.

It is stunning, absolutely stunning, how many forex traders continue to use MT4 for live trading.
It takes a lot for me to IGNORE you, but you can try.
This gets more interesting by the day.
Now, the 3/10/2016 EURUSD M1 charts looks completely different today (3/14/2016) than it did just one second before the Feed Choke on last Thursday. This charts not only shows no gap in data, but it shows a completely different Price Chart!
On the first chart posted last week, at the point of the Feed Choke at 2209 on 3/10/2016, you could clearly see that $1.10864 was your EURUSD price. You can also clearly see that Bars had painted at that level. Today, when looking back at the same 3/10/2016 FXCM EURUSD M1 chart, you see absolutely no Bars painting at the 2209hrs level anywhere near $1.10864.
The entire shape of the chart between FXCM USD-Demo and FXCM USD-Real is completely different, yet the Time on the X-axis is exactly the same. That is not supposed to be possible unless Real and Demo data come from two entirely different sources. So, where does Real FXCM data come from and where does Demo FXCM data come from, because this proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that they do not have the same source.
It does not matter what the name of the trading platform happens to be. It could be anything. The point is the Data Feed going into that platform. That's what matters.
