When you open an FXCM trading account, you're free to withdraw your funds whenever you like, provided they are not required as margin for your open positions.

Yes, there is a way, Slade1986

If you email our Operations department at admin [AT] FXCM (dot) COM, then you can request for the 20-symbol limit on Trading Station to be removed from your account.

IT should be up to the trader's own discretion if he wants to trade USD/HKD, FXCM does not need to take a father role here !!!
Quite sure that the decision taken here is more in FXCM's interest then the trader's !

Fractional Pricing.

OK, so fractional pricing has started on the Dax (Ger30) and I have been observing it since it started a few minutes ago. This was touted as being of benefit to traders but just at this moment I fail to see how a consistently increased spread by 0.5 is of benefit to any trader? Cost of doing business increasing is supposed to be a good thing huh? for whom? for FXCM prehaps?

Any comments? Please feel free to respond.


Added. And just a suddenly it seems to have disappeared and back to integers again. A brief glimpse of what is to come?

A possible error regarding quotes on MT4??

I set a trade today, like any other day, and noticed something VERY wrong. My quotes on the chart for MT4 (the right side quotes that follow live prices, circled in red in the attached image) are OFF from the spread on the left side in the market watch bar (circled in blue on the left). The trade itself (circled in blue on bottom of chart) is working based on the prices shown in the market watch. The issue here is that the chart is showing a different price than what is really the price for trading, which would also make the charts look different than what it would be if it were based on the market watch. I dont understand how this is happening, I have tested it with multiple devices, a fresh install of MT4 on a brand new computer, and the android app as well. All three of my devices are showing the same issue, so it must be server side. It isnt an indicator issue, I dont have any indicators on the android app and it is still doing the same thing. Can you please explain Jason?

EDIT: I have contacted FXCM via live chat, and they told me that this is a known issue, and he directed me to this link.

While I understand the situation, it is going to keep me from opening an active account with FXCM. To offer something that doesn't work correctly and could affect your trades, ESPECIALLY when dealing with real money, is very unappealing.

Jason, do you have any idea when they will implement the changes to accurately show the prices? I was an aspiring client, but now I might have to go with another broker.

Given what happened with the EUR/CHF last year, I believe the precautions we are taking now are in everyone's best interest, especially with the increased geopolitical risks in Europe and economic risks in China.

The primary change FXCM has made is to remove currency pairs from our platform that carry significant risk due to over-active manipulation by their respective government either by a floor, ceiling, peg or band. We also raised margin requirements for other pairs as well. Some of these changes will be permanent while others may change as geopolitical risks change.

Hi Nbfx,

The spreads on DAX (GER30) have increased when market conditions warranted even before the implementation of CFD decimalization. If anything, quoting prices to two extra decimal places should help make such increases less dramatic (0.5 points instead of 1 full point). This implementation will be completed in steps.

Over the next few weeks we will be decimalizing these instruments:

  1. US30
  2. SPX500
  3. NAS100
  4. UK100
  5. FRA40
  6. GER30
  7. HKG33
  8. AUS200
  9. EUSTX50
  10. USOil
  11. UKOil
  12. NGAS


That means the CFD prices will be quoted to two decimal places. The pip value itself will remain the same.

Decimalized pricing on CFDs allows you to trade with:

  1. Increased precision in stop orders
  2. Increased transparency as the pricing will more accurately reflect the underlying market


CFD decimalization will benefit FXCM clients as shown in this example:

Suppose the DAX price is 9713.48 and you are long GER30 with a stop at 9713.00. Previously, with no decimalization, you would have been stopped out of your trade, because the price would have rounded down to 9713. With decimalised quotes, however, you can still be in this trade.

A solution has already been implemented for our non-USD MT4 servers. The fix for US dollar-denominated MT4 accounts is still pending, but I'll let you know when I have more information on that. In the meantime, to see chart prices that match what you already see in the Market Watch window of the platform, you can try one of our Euro-denominated MT4 demos.

Note that this issue only affects charts on the MT4 platform, not Trading Station, NinjaTrader, Mirror Trader of any of the other platforms FXCM offers.

Would it not be better to offer real futures with real exchange pricing and day margines of $400*, $500* & $1,000* on ES, YM & FDXM respectively. A true 100 % transparent NDD trading envirionment. No ?

Hey Jason, I have two fxcm accounts running on Mirrortrader and I have noticed that the displayed prices feeds (or spreads) are clearly different. Are you guys adjusting the spread based on account size on Mirrortrader or should they be identical (they are not)? Thanks. BTW, those are EU prices

Hi Nonlinear,

It looks like you have one Standard account, and one Mini account.

Standard FXCM accounts trade on No Dealing Desk (NDD) forex execution with low spreads and commmissions. Mini accounts trade on DD execution and with all inclusive spreads and no commissions.

The minimum to open a Standard account is $2000, and the minimum to open a Mini account is $50. This table has more information comparing these account types: http://bit.ly/1OGQHzK

While our CFD execution is DD like most of the industry, FXCM has no re-quotes which can be a problem traders may experience with other CFD brokers.

Like you, FXCM believes the No Dealing Desk (NDD) model is the most fair and transparent to provide to traders which is why we have offered NDD forex execution since 2006. That was when we were first able to convince forex liquidity providers to offset individual client orders as small as one mini lot. In 2012, we extended our NDD forex execution to include micro lot orders.

While we haven't yet been able to set up such an NDD arrangement with CFD liquidity providers for the order sizes our clients demand (we offer micro lot CFD trading and a $50 account minimum, neither of which is available with futures), it is a long term goal of ours. CFD decimalization is an important step in that direction.

Given what they have said about "no-requote", but how about the off quote issue? in about 15min i could not close the trade or place new trade

So just to be clear. FXCM are making the market on all the quoted indices and commodities, are the counter-party to the trades and as such control the pricing according to their order book (with regard to the underlying)?

And what is going on with the ger30 spread? flashing 4.00 or 5.00 or 6.00 only to revert back to about 1.5. On a tick chart it opens and closes randomly and frequently without actually printing a tick (but I'll bet it takes trades out tho.)
