I actually believe now that a good honest market maker is the best thing for us retail folk.

....my experience with oanda is less than 30 days, my fxcm experience is around 7 months and my ibfx, no longer with us, experience spanned almost 10 years.....
as it stands today, ibfx would my choice for the perfect broker model.... it was not uncommon for me to double and triple accounts sometimes with 1000's of winning trades in a row.... my all time longest streak probably was over 1500 in a row.... live accounts verified by ff explorers.....

oanda's business model is different.... the second thing i did after opening the first of 3 accounts there, was to start running a spread recorder..... i see the spreads and understand oanda's needs.... and also understand how to survive between those two....
so far my experience , again only a short 30 days, has been pleasant.... comfortable saying that will not change....
if my goal is to double my account and have 500 winning trades in a row within 60 days, in my mind it is only fair and decent to allow oanda the same goal..... it is and i do.....h

worst nightmare broker thanks good i don't trade with them 
they were playing honesty at start but they appeared as they really are
they were hunting my stop loss always and they do expose your positions to public

But Alpari was a different model, I think most of the market marker models actually made money from the Swiss incident, whereas most ECN brokers lost money.

You can't literally be "usually wrong" with your stop losses because then that would mean you would lose more than you win. And obviously in reality you are winning much more than you lose. And if you actually DO use stop losses, then in general how large are you stop losses for usd based pairs? Also, one other question I am curious...
hey ace..... this week is full of examples of what i mean by usually wrong..... below is my audnzd trade example.... to keep my loss at 55$, the trades were closed out... and a few hours later, most of that loss would have been erased..... but i have no regrets about closing the trades.....
on high risk trades, such as the audnzd, i'll usually limit my loss to a dollar amount, somewhere around 50$.... on a medium risk trade the amount is usually around 100$.... on what i calculate as a guaranteed winner, the amount will usually be 200 max.... this week the gbpusd, which i felt could not lose, hit that 200$ max....
i do use stoplosses.... and stick to them even though looking back it's clear to see just a small increase in the stop loss would have turned a loser into a winner..... the stoploss is based my view of true risk for the particular trade which sometimes is difficult to set....
to make it more difficult, true risk changes.... as example, suppose a trade had a 1:1 risk to reward... win 200 pips or lose 200 pips.... now suppose the pair moves 190 pips in your favor.... what is the true risk to reward now.... at that point your risking 390 pips to make 10.....

i made money on the swiss peg break.... but had long all but stopped trading the chf due to the peg risk..... by extreme coincidence, just 9 hours before the break i mentioned my fear to ck87.....
as the number of trades increase, even if all are positive, i'll usually get more proactive in the stoploss placement...... here is an example.....
i have posted dozens of live account examples containing hundreds of trades where just a few hours or pips after my stoploss was hit the pair turned in my favor and would have later hit my profit target..... i have no regret about that.... none.....
we have to let the broker win every now and then....
