On Oanda and any other broker. Every Sunday when Fx Market is open with gaps >50 pipsi. Will see negative balance at some traders

I do absolutely agree with deathbait.I've no idea when the last time was that negative balances were created,and,I suspect,neither do you.I would imagine it happens fairly frequently with those so-called brokerages that offer 1:2000.
Irrespective, it happened on a large scale 2 weeks ago and it could happen again tomorrow.
I'm with Oanda and don't ever foresee me using anywhere near 1:50. I try to stay below 1:10. I'm also with Dukascopy and although they offer 1:100 I still keep the same level.
We,in Europe are a bit more protected against irresponsible traders but he/she is absolutely correct in everything he/she said.
Where price is now, it has been before, and will be again.

If your account reaches the level of 50 percent margin used your positions are closed automatically, liquidity or no liquidity.

I use 5 to 1 on my actual forex capital, which I refuse to keep with the broker. I have a 10K trading account and trade 5 minis, Only difference, since I have a 500:1 broker, is while you would put up $1500 with Oanda , I put up $200 (only $100 required, but I use a 40 pip sl)and keep the rest in my bank. Still don't see how that makes me irresponsible trader, if anything I believe I'm more responsible. Accounts are not protected in any way, shape or form under NFA regulations. You're irresponsible if your giving your broker this kind of money.

You REALLY don't see it ,do you?
If price moves fast enough,your 40pip sl means bugger all. You end up with a negative balance and that negative balance is amplified by the amount of leverage YOU have decided to use.That loss is then shared amongst your fellow traders should you not have enough collateral to the extent where there may not be enough money left in the pot.
Those who use ultra-high leverage along with the brokers who offer it deserve to go out of business sooner rather than later
Where price is now, it has been before, and will be again.

I protect my capital since the NFA does not. Plain and simple. Once again, we are using what maybe a once in a lifetime move to base all of our decisions and assumptions on. I don't hold positions over the weekend, I have never had a negative balance and since the regulations in my country do not protect my funds, I must protect them myself.

Point is MM´s quotes are not real market quotes and your order can be closed with one (automatized) click on a button regardless of liquidity. Oanda can for instance wait on the Sunday gap and if there is a gap close your position and then go back to real market quotes. Negative balances do not happen all the time its in nobody´s interest.

Guys, regarding those spreads, since Oanda is DD, they kinda guarantee you price you see on chart. So if there is some important news, like NFP, they r pretty sure they wont be able to guarantee best price simply bcos of market volatility. It is very normal they widen spreads, especially for DD broker. Nothing they can do about it. If they didnt widen spreads, they may quote price they cant afford.

Mate, although this guy is obviously just ranting, also you have said it is both traders and brokers fault.

Trader failed to understand mechanics of market and thought he is going to sell his totally rotten apples on guaranteed price. Guess what, this is market, no price is guaranteed.
Broker failed to hedge and get liquidity (in almost frozen market no surprise).
Both are guilty.

We can be talking bout it all day long, but in the end we reach to conclusion FX is pure essence of capitalistic market. Giant liquidity, cheap prices and giant risk - anyone can fack up, broker, trader, and even me
