Funny how the USDX is finding resistance just near 1700 and a major fibo level of retracement for gold.

This chart may suggest a cap on the USDX Rise and a boost in the GOLD and silver price as the USDX ride is potentially OVER for this year.

A boost to 1700 would be Great for even a physical trade on both GOLD and SILVER!!

Hate to disagree with you but you know me, I lean more often to the bear side (the moves are quicker) but as I can clearly see from your charts the waves down have been impulsive and the waves up corrective.

So if anything if price is to rise and sustain the move it will only be if the impulsive down waves are done.

And although I might be wrong I don't think that has happened yet.

Agreed.

We are still in a corrective move to the upside and have been consolidating before the next leg down. Still below the 61.8% from most recent down move and price is still being held down by the 20 EMA on the D1 chart.

Definitely nothing to be bullish about at this point in time...

Other thing I am watching in the funnymentals Gold trades on uncertainty which there is certainly plenty of nowadays. But along with news "some" central banks are buying there is the overhang of "some" central banks that might have to sell - by their own decision or the ECB's, namely Spain, Portugal, Greece, Ireland.

And then there is the world economy which continues to slow which continues to slow down demand for Silver - which in turn affects Gold.

Look at how weak a retracement Silver has had since the mid April lows. Pathetic.

One other point, look how weak a move today comparatively of Gold & Silver to the stock indices.

They have been moving with stocks most days.

Maybe they will catch up in a day or two.

Maybe not.

I don't see any correlation whatsoever between Gold and the US equities...

In fact, I see an Inverse correlation looking at the D1 Gold and D1 DOW. Take a look.

Gold has clearly been in a downtrend since September 2012. DOW has been extremely bullish since November 2012!

I'd say we are both half right.

My chart shows it fluctuates mostly between 0.00 (or no correlation) and 0.50 (mildly positive). Though very infrequently down to -0.50 (mildly negative correlation) as it did recently with big drop in Gold but not same in S&P.

i agree we are heading for large drop but not yet. plenty of optimism out there. People opening family vaults and buying gold like there is no tomorrow thinking they are smart.
