Hi. Does anyone have any experience of using charting on MT4 on either a netbook or Android tablet?
Most of my trading is structured around mapping out entry and exit points and leaving in pending limit orders/stop loss/take profit orders.
I find it a constant battle to fit trading into my daily routine. Usually I do my daily analysis at home before and after work, and check things periodically from my smartphone during the day. Generally I cannot check things on my work computer. However, I have 2 x 40 minute train journeys per day. It would be a much more efficient use of my time if I could use that time do my daily charting analysis rather than have to do it at home. I already carry a work laptop to and from work with me so ideally I would like to be able to carry a fairly lightweight, low-spec device with me which I would use exclusively for charting, and recording data in a basic spreadsheet. In an ideal world, I would do this on either a netbook or an Android tablet, rather than a laptop (which would be either bigger, heavier and/or more expensive), but I cannot find any reliable information about whether they have the functionality to do what I want. Most netbooks run a lower spec version of Windows and can’t find any info about whether standard MT4 will run on it. As for Android, I know that there is a version of MT4 which runs on Android, but I get the impression that this is geared more towards phones rather than tablets and the functionality looks a long way short of the standard package
Most of my trading involves H1 and D1 S/R levels and swing points. So I need to be able to draw horizontal levels and trendlines with pinpoint accuracy; view ATR; view MACD; draw on and view fib retracements. I also need to be able to save screenshots of charts.
I do not need to trade live from my MT4 and as I am trading of the H1 and D1 timeframes I do not need superfast data or even constant data. Just updating my chart using a 3G connection at the beginning of my train journey would be sufficient (I will inevitably lose signals going through tunnels etc anyway). Nor do I need to run EAs.
Does anyone have any experience of trying anything like this? I would be very grateful to hear others’ views.
