Bah. I'm trying to figure out a forex broker to choose that accepts USA clients but this one seems a little risky for me...especially since im hearing how MT4 platform "buggs" out.

Hi fxJano,

Welcome to our thread and let me know if you have any specific questions I can help with. There were over 170,000 active retail accounts with FXCM as of last operating metrics release this month and if there were any systemic "buggs" with the platform you would likely hear a lot of noise about them on this thread. Technical issues can come up from time to time, but we will address them head on as they do to make sure they are fixed as soon as possible.

An important message FXCM Micro clients out there. This weekend we are phasing out "FXCM Micro" and the website will redirect to FXCM.com. Micro lots are still available along with the $50 starting balance, it's just that the websites are being merged.

FXCM Micro began as a special product offering designed to let new forex traders trade with 1k lot sizes and start with small $50 balances. As the offering became more popular, we lowered the minimum contract size in standard accounts as well. Now that there are no major differences between "micro" and "standard" accounts, we are merging the websites.

For "FXCM Micro" clients, there will be no changes on your end. You will keep the same account number and can continue logging in on the same platform. Your existing leverage settings and platform functionality will not change. You will gain access to new features such as access to all the standard deposit and withdrawal options, including free withdrawals back to the credit or debit card you used to fund your account. Second, you will now have access to all of the standard platform options such as MT4, Mirror Trader, and ZuluTrader. Lastly, if your account is with FXCM UK or FXCM Australia, your micro account will now have access to all CFD products compared to only gold and silver previously.

any ideas to when your data to ninjatrader will improve , takes good 10 min to open a chart . thanks

Hi Ben,

We are making an update to the price servers this coming weekend which should resolve the issue you described. In the meantime, you should be able to load your Ninja charts faster by changing the options to load only 500 bars.

Dear FXCM

I see that margin for USoil of Micro account is usd 200, but margin of MT4 demo account is Usd 125 ???

I want to trade other commodities such as sugar , soybean. I see that many brokers have those commodities. Pls let me know when FXCM have those commodities for trading ??

Hi Sunlight,

It sounds like your two demo accounts are denominated in different currencies. Your demo showing the margin as 200 is a US dollar account. Your demo showing the margin as 125 is a GBP account. That means the margin is actually 125 pounds. For more information on margin requirements for different currency accounts, you can look at this table.

In regards to the other commodities your requested, I will keep you posted in this forum thread, should we offer them in the future.

This is a bummer. When I opened a real account with FXCM I was assigned USDReal03 server. I can only get 3 months worth of data when loading a brand new 15 min chart. I was able to load 1 year when using USDDemo01 server.

Are the data the same, thus I have to do my optimization on the demo account?

Hi JM,

Yes, the price data on your real and demo accounts are the same. If you'd like to do backtesting further back than a year, you might be interested in the Historical Data Downloader available at FXCMapps.com. It has prices going back 10 years.

Issue still present, chart loading is very slow.

Hi Jason,

I have several currencies displayed as Simple Dealing rates in my trading station. Twice now the spreads have suddenly shot up to 8 or 9 growing as I watch, last Friday as the GBP/USD sold down the spread went to 13...the GBP/JPY as well. I have dealing desk and normally these spreads are below 2. Thankfully, they adjust down again in a short time but should this be happening here? I will be doing a copy and paste for next time.....

Friday evenings liquidity is dying off as the major banks brokers work with close for the weekend and on Sunday evening the same story as they slowly come back for the work week. When large orders are placed that liquidity is strained and so the spread shoots up. Anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I've come to understand.

If you're using Trade Station II, did you try closing the tab and re-opening it? Occasionally when my internet connection starts having trouble some of my charts will stop trying to load after failing a certain number of times but not indicate it, so I open my saved layout and it tries to reload everything again.

Issue is on NinjaTrader... Been a Strategy Trader user and trying to switch.
