A "no trade" condition is better than hit the stoploss of any order open on pair.
Also, because this data interruption was certainly a planned event, would be preferable to know this before.

hmm so let's see... you know that go doesn't fair well during large news releases and major events expected or otherwise and consider other brokers more appropriate for the brilliant tactic of trading news. cool. so WHY KEEP EXPECTING TO TRADE THE NEWS WITH GO? obviously you find value in trading through go else you wouldn't even bother... or maybe you are just that sadistic and actually don't find any value in go and use them for your own self-punishment?

trying to force a square peg into a round hole? use the right tools for the right job! if go are great except for 1% of the time, and you know when that 1% is going to occur then why don't you trade with someone else for these moments and do yourself a big favour?

"blah blah blah i don't want to have multiple accounts because i'm lazy blah blah" won't cut it.

oh well. let me go back to my hole while you lot continue to expect everything to be exactly how you want it and continue to punish yourselves when reality is different to your expectations.

Now I read that with other words you agree with my post :
"Gomarkets is not a broker for trading news"

And because I know this, I wrote that I prefer a "no data" condition (like yesterday) than a wide spread (said "safe spread" ....) to hit all open orders stoploss (seen many times before from GO).

i wasn't referring to you in my first post, you just assumed i was.

it's about time people stop complaining about stop hunts and margin calls when they don't use stops and spreads widening and this that and the other. if you don't like a broker go to another one and see how you fair there. peoples expectations of trading are not aligned with reality. any little thing they perceive as being something more than it is and they start whining for money and refunds and boohoo.

I am sorry, as you are either drunk or deluded. This conversation has had nothing do with the old paranoia about bloody stop hunts etc etc etc. The broker in question suffers a price freeze at times of high price movement. We have previously been asked to report these matters as they occur. People are doing just that. No one is whining. As i said before, go back to your hole.

It absolutely pisses me off, as the last time this happened, when I came on here to simply point out the outage times and connectivity details, i was shouted down.

I agree with you, many people don't have idea of what is a real forex trading.
But often this low knowledge is due that some broker advertise things like ... :
- lowest spread as 0.5 pips (but sometimes you will see 200 pips)
- trade like you prefer with expert advisor (but if you trade "strange" we will not pay you)
- we are pure STP (but the market maker is our bank, and they don't like to loose money on NFP)
- perfect connection worldwide ( but if you are in Europe your MT4 will prefer to connect to server in Sydney than the London server)

So, my idea is that many people are confused about brokerage due to the fact that many-many brokers (not only GO) don't write the TRUE about their business and give their clients generic and optimistic information.
I don't think that GO is a not honest broker, I think that they should be more transparent about real trading conditions offered to clients.
This in order to avoid client with different expectations about GO is offering.

positiveday : what you are talking about can simply be categorized as advertising. there is nothing different about it than the macdonalds ads on tv. macdonalds doesn't advertise the aspect of slaughtering cows for their beef patties or the salt / sugar / whatever content of their most heinously unhealthy foods... you don't advertise your 12 toes when you date a girl. a broker isn't doing anything wrong by advertising that their spreads can get quite low at times and so on... hell, i see some people complaining because brokers will even give new customers a bonus amount of money into their trading account when they first sign-up! free trading capital, and they complain because brokers are "evil". brokers are businesses that need to turn a profit just like anyone else and incentives and advertising are just one way to suck in the losers. a little common sense goes a long way. you don't whine and shout at your ISP for allowing emails when grandma gets sucked into a nigerian email scam, yet this is the kind of mentality people have. no personal responsibility. no due diligence.

if people want to be lead by the hand then they will be lead down the garden path. that's life. people need to open their eyes if they expect to see reality.

It is not me that needs luck. It is you who comes on on here looking to pick a fight and act in an obnoxious, rude and arrogant manner. From reading some of your other posts on other threads, you really need to look at yourself and cease the bombastic tone.

I cannot disagree that many/possibly most of the people on these forums are complete nitwits and nothing and no one will ever help them ... especially themselves. But that is for them to find out.

Back on topic though, the broker had requested comments re their outages/availability. There was an outage. People have responded. The end.

Hi Guys,

Go markets each time had denied that they had issue with NFP. So this is repeating & even happening at other fast moving market events. I don't understand the reason & may think more and more this is some how planned or they are unable to fix it.

For those who think this is a good no trade even if you like to have a price gap of 80 pips or more while you are trading then good for you. I rather prefer seeing the price action so fast to take decision hold or cut my trade. Not dancing until Go market decide to get back to trading. This is Bullshit trading & none reliable.

This happened also for other events. So you don't know when this no trade event happen. & GO markets will keep deniying any issue.

Also there is the delay for execution due to server in australia that could cost some pips so the real price you get is really different from the tight spread. If you pick a faster execution broket with spread double you could end up getting better entries strange but TRUE!

This is my point & really got deceived on this & feel sad to prepare changing from broker but we past beyond the acceptable isolated incident.

Hi Guys,

I am sorry to hear that some of you had an issue on the NFP release on Friday, but what I find really strange is that you have all wrote on here but out of over 15,000 clients we have not had a single email about it to our customer service or trading inboxes.

I do not know how many times I have to say it, but it really would make sense and be a great help if people email us as well as writing here.

As for the problem, it is obvious that some of you have had an issue, and I believe that we have now worked it out. Firstly, I can say that the feed did not stick and the server did not disconnect. All ticks came through, and if you look at the bid volume on the chart you will see plenty of data coming through. If the price feed froze or the server was down, you would not see any data in that time.

Also, it is worth pointing out that the MetaTrader 4 server takes between 3 and 5 minutes to restart, so if you lose connection for less than that time, it is definitely not the server going down.

Over the weekend we analysed the data at our end and compared it with other brokers and what it shows was that as a general rule we have a lot more ticks of price data coming through. For example, on EURUSD in the one minute that the NFPs came out a leading ECN MT4 provider had only 29 ticks in comparison to our almost 500! Lots of brokers had between 150 and 200, but ours was much higher. To further give an example of the number of ticks we give you, over the course of Friday we had around 140,000 ticks on EURUSD compared to 55,000 for the same ECN I mention above and around 80-100,000 for lots of other MT4 providers.

After talking to MetaQuotes and our own server engineers, we have been advised that this large difference in the amount of data could cause an interruption at your end. Each tick of data uses additonal bandwidth at your end and many domestic internet connections will struggle to keep up and can then show an apparent freeze or even a disconnection. It has also been said that some anti-virus programs may block connection to a program if there is a burst of data above what normally occurs, in order to protect your computer even if in the case of MetaTrader it is not a malicious thing.

The summary of it all is that we are speaking to Currenex to arrange for them to throttle back the feed, epsecially around news items which will mean that the few of you experiencing these problems will no longer see them. Once we have arranged the changes and implemented them, I will be happy to let you all know.

Hi,

Your decision entirely but 'unknown new broker is hardly correct'.
We have one of the largest active threads on Forex Factory and have been in operation for over 5 years which I am sure you will agree is alot longer than most brokers and with clients in over 120 countries we are hardly unknown.
I respect that you dont want to read the post but your other comments are simply innacurate.

???? you obviously haven't read the rest of the thread, Go have come along way since they started in Oz. No one is perfect but Go have taken a lot of client suggestions on board and do come here and explain their actions.

Have a look at some of the other broker threads, Go are better than average !

Quite a few people use volume of ticks in trading decisions, could you set an upper limit per second rather than modifying the flow of data please.

Thanks for the comment.

We are talking to Currenex about the options at the moment. In an ideal world we wouldn't make any changes because the number of ticks shows the accuracy of the feed, but I understand that some people's platforms cannot keep up with it, so it is important to make some tweaks.

As I said earlier, I will let you all know when we make the updates.

To Me has been a spread of over 200pips ... but only by Go Markets from other Brokers who do not use! ......STP?
