Good Morning Fellow Ambitious Gold Traders!

Yesterday was interesting, was thinking short, but my algo caught the massive upswing with the data release, making it an excellent day.
$XAU always surprises.

Strategy for me has changed to exclusively the 30 minute chart for London and New York, and the 15 for Asia.
Whichever direction they are pointing, that's where I'm going.

This 'chop' regime we've been in for almost a couple months now seems to really love the 30 minute.
Having excellent success with this - the only thing is when I get in the way and close early, or have too tight of a stop.
Set it and forget it, go out on the boat or paddleboard for a few hours and don't get in your way.

Thinking we will be in this regime for a couple few more weeks before switching back to 'trend'
There may be some weeks of ultra-chop (mid August) 5-min chart time before the switch becomes firm and we move back to H1, H2, H3, H4 being where the profits are. Or, who knows, this is just what I've researched and see in the backtests. When the M30 is profitable, the H1+ are not. When the H1+ are profitable, the M30 is not. This seems to play out in cycles.

I also think we'll stay in a high-ATR, high-volatility mode for the summer months, as geo-political issues remain heightened, inflation, oil, bank accumulation, etc., all pushing and pulling in their various directions.

I stay away from posting charts as we all have access to that, trying to keep it 'macro' - trade the 30 minute chart, folks!

I said before expect some sort of test you sold right on an untested IOF demand there is 100% likely to be UFO's (unfilled orders) sitting there from institutions the only probability you had was Daily down trend in your favour but you are selling in a big ass demand zone the only reasonable sell I see is that untapped daily/4h supply around 125 but that's just me

Today is a no trading day (for me atleast) we could go either way, trading is probability even when you are certain there is a probability you are wrong. the only trade I kind of see is this but its still counter trade so I wont take also your late as we only take first touches

Every single TF has its own target. Movement will be informed/signed by M1, after M1 ends, it must refer to M5. M5 end must refer to M15. Every end TF will be the next proposal/price offering for the biggest TF. If not happen, it repeats and starts again with M1. IMHO

poker used to be very big about 15-20 yers ago....they showed tournament play on almost every tv channel back then.

i never played the game but i liked watching it and to this day i remember a interview of one guy who said i dont think of the chips as being money cause then i wouldnt be able to make a sane decision pushing in a million dollars making a call or raise

that answer always made sense to me and thats why people trading with their grocery money will always fail.cause all they think about is their money

to this day my main psychological problem is fear of giving back profits ...i place tp's but hardley ever wait around for them to get hit cause anxiety starts kicking inn in when price stalls 5 or 10 pips from my target and then i close manually cause i cant stop squirming ... i fear price will reverse and take back all of the profits and thats the main thing that still fuks with my head LOL

depending on the trading platform one uses the PnL window is in a corner and keeping flashing how much you making or losing and i went to the lebght of placing a piece of masking tape over it if i couldnt delete that segment from view on the platform cause i didnt want to know how much i was up or down cause it effected my thinking

reading or watchin poker players how they deal with the stress of handling their winnings or losses much better than reading stupid trading psych books

demo trading not gona simulate that knot in the stomach as ur watching ur rent money disappearing and having to listen to the landlord threaten to kick u out of the apartment LOL

im in a better emotional space when i dont look at the intraday PnL and just wait till end of day

No i am saying today is a no trade at all them zones have been hammered to death which is a low probability of Unfilled orders by institutions also buying your going against trend on HTF, selling here is a no too as even though the zones have been hammered you are still in stacked demand zones and RR just is not there my personal opinion is wait for atleast 4125 for a sell if we dont reach and we miss who cares you wait for the next probable trade but its all up to you brother

Poker player here haha but yes. I know what you mean. My brother was an absolute demon for that mindset. He did not see money. Just chips.

For me in trading I used to struggle a lot with that fear and jumping out of trades early as a result. There is no 1 size fits all solution on it. For me personally it was managing my trade sizes and focusing on % gain instead of $. I love trading and all the intricasies absolutely love it!!!

It is just different for everyone. Getting to that stage requires proper self awareness and reflection.

I think some prop firm accounts are a useful medium for some people. Allows some to trade with the perception of a larger capital but lots of rules and discipline required.

Anyway love the discussions and seeing everyone's different backgrounds. Just shows that everyone is still on a journey

I base my trades on extensive backtests.
The M1 really has zero influence on M30 or M15 trades, for me anyways.
I use a combination of the M1, M2 & M3 for range trading (like right now) as a 'side hustle' - small size, quick turnover.

If you run backtests for the last 6 weeks you'll find the M30 during London & Asia is excellent PF, and Asia M15, decent PF.

MONDAY M30 NY - 4073->3989 (clean slow move)
TUESDAY M30 LONDON - 3981->4028 (trailing stop into the NY session, small pullback ahead of bigger moves up)
TUESDAY M30 NY - 4014->4100 (so fast, the signs were there)
TUESDAY M15 ASIA - 4056->4025 (slept through it, algo caught it)
WEDNESDAY M30 LONDON - CHOP
We'll see what NY prints today

The problem for me at least with the M1, M2, M3 is that during a real trend (eg., M30) they are just a distraction that gets in the way.
Trying to micro-target entries off the M1 can definitely work, but the edge you get here is minimal (IMHO) compared to adding-in once the trend is established.

I've just had more success with this approach than trying to thread the needle through M1->M5->M15->M30 and so on
Not saying that approach doesn't work however if you're attentive

Many ways to skin a cat, just sharing mine.

For the newbies, something I always track from the previous data. If you can check all these and you find prices are falling anticipate ppi to be softer vise versa

Price is doing nothing. All it wants is some fake news that woulf produce a 1k pip candle and after that the day is done. And you'll most likely not be in the trade.

This is seasonal trading. If you trade with season, a lot of work to do. I'm just a simple person, trading current proposals/current offerings. Appreciated your seasonal sharing. Trading is about business. If we think those method gift us proper profit, just do it. Ignoring the others. Self-respect is better.
