Hi Medici,
Personally I find GOLD works better, when Trading from Levels, than FX does. It's the main reason I moved over to GOLD.
If I look at any other Time Frame the H1 seems to work best for me.
Any longer than this and it takes me too far from current Price and Lowerr Time Frames, I will use occasionally, for Entering a Trade.

Hi Steve, that Gold should be better than FX for the mode of trading I started out with is interesting to hear. Thanks for sharing.

When FX volatility calmed down around 2009-10 I first moved to non-standard price representations (first range bars then tick charts) before moving to stock index futures. Since then non-standard price representations (including Renko) have been what I've had the most success with. And I have come to appreciate how tick charts, in particular, tell you how the market really works at a microstructure level.

For example, I whipped together the tick chart model depicted below just now after lunch. I've struggled to make friends with the sedate pace of Gold, not to mention the somewhat wide stop levels, and this may just be it. Presented alongside 5m for comparison.

Fair Value Gaps on 15m are reliable in many other markets, so also in Gold, I discover. Let's see how this one goes.

I see gold today above 4600 if not 4700 / I know the market chatter 4300 needs to be tested before It can go up. I am used to such chatters since 2002. Also retailers are always having different stories to imitate.

Thank you Steve. I took $275 off the table when it stalled. Then, I have to admit, I traded NQ and made up for it. I just don't have the internalised experience yet for trading Gold.

but sorry to say wirh due respect sir it has already tested several times in this month so i don't think it needs a retesting for sure. Market is way way wayyy more volatile than 2002. Market can do anything. Not to follow patterns and technicals only in this kind of situation. And till 2026 we are just expecting a RANGE between 4000 to 5000. Gold has shattered alot and 50 shades of gold now follow it's dirty flaws shamelessly. So 2002 is just an old number now.

In trading there is no right or wrong. Steve can go into a long at the same time you go into a short and both of you could win despite trading in the opposite directions.

Retail Traders dont (shouldn't) predict the Markets direction, we simply react when the Market is giving us an opportunity.

The Market doesn't care about what we would like to see.

So just trade your analysis and manage your risk.

yes absolutely right. Retailers only earn being wolves. This markets sentiments are only attached to big institutions
