And a test of the broken TL as well. Many things in that exact spot. Would need to drop hard and fast though to hit that broken TL at same spot.

I agree Zappa that 1000 pips might be very tight but I try to do some entry engineering before I get into the trade so that if the stop is hit then the trade idea is wrong and so swallow the loss and move on. I can't guarantee that I will have screen time because of my day job hence the large stop loss.
But I am looking at trying to cut the 1000 point stop down. It would probably mean less impulsive entries, More limit entries and less interference with running trades.
It is what it is as long as we get to making optimised profits per trade and more wins than losses.

Of course brother, many ways to skin a cat. You gotta do what works for you. I'm able to watch charts all day (unfortunately do have to sleep), but if I wasn't would have to have to adjust my style too

Screw it, Im setting TP at 54k in case we actually get a crazy spike down. Its above that area I just posted about, but I don't need to be THAT greedy. Hopefully this is about to get wild

As you said I just want "to skin the cat" and keep washing and rinsing to easy profitability

Been at it over 20 years now. Took WAY longer than I thought it would have to be profitable. Been over 20 years studying/watching charts almost every waking hour.

But watching and studying is the easy part. The hard part is going through the many, many, many agonies of getting my ass kicked along the way. Always strived to learn from mistakes (of which there are many and still happen to this day). Giving up was never in my DNA

Selloff looking a little soft. I can hope for a big move all i want, but the market has to continually confirm. Right now im seeing signs it might bottom soon for a retrace or possibly new highs.

Setting TP at 74800.

Inverted chart here. Started out strong first 2 waves, then just sort of fizzled out. Not a particularly big move either in total.

Again I ask myself. Do the bears even have any firepower left???

It finally broke that TL. Might be a break and fake. If it gets back in there it could fly. Im targeting highlighted area

Moving stop closer to 74800, and i dont think this thing will even touch the low of day.

Its exhausting all these little moves up and down. Hard to make money unless you get in at great spot and get out quick, or get in at good spot and hold. Gotta have strong conviction to hold though, and I just dont.

Indeed. This back and forth is not ideal.
I was looking for a lot more downside but instead got recovery.
As you said well timed intraday entries and exits might be better.
I fared a bit better last week because I had more screen time
Now that I am back to my usual I just look at the chart and see moves that have retraced

I keep considering my r/r ratios. For instance, right now with the entry and stop i have, a target at 80600 is 3x what im risking. Meanwhile im over here shooting for a 9x at 88k.

Big trades are how I made it out of the gutter. They dont come as often, but when they do they are grand slams....BUT.....the markets spend more time with smaller moves. Ive missed out on a lot of profits going for big trades.

Its hard to change. Partly because ive had success with big trades, and part because I hate to miss out on moves I could see happening (FOMO)

Always trying to improve though, still considering a change

It is the same for me too.
Sell(or buy)-and-hold-on-for-dear-life trades have been a life saver for me too.
I usually look for extreme bottoms and tops and try to angle in and then hold the trade.
This style of trading suits me because I usually do not have a lot of screen time - last week was a rarity for me

Perhaps you could do both.
One big trade to start with
50% with the intention of shooting for the moon or the center of the earth and the other 50% with strict 1:2 or 1:3
Easier said than done though. I am talking to myself as well.
Trying shorter term trades is the reason I have started using the candle range theory

Heres what im going to do, Olu. Im going to test it out right now, starting with trade im already in. Target is 80,800 (added couple hundred to pay for fees)

1:3 risk reward is max. Tired of trying to figure out targets, this makes it easy.

Lets see how it goes. Will probably fly to 90k now, but whatever. I really want to test this out live
