Because this news will cause oil prices to rise, which means increased demand for the dollar, since oil is traded primarily in dollars. Increased demand = higher dollar = lower gold prices. The world needs cash, not gold.

I see a lot of people are shouting buy gold, then are confused why gold is going down.

1. The US has been hitting military facilities only, not oil infrastructure, the US is avoiding total oil destruction...for now. They know that this would cause a global economic shock.
2. The market thinks this is a controlled escalation, but as we all know war is chaotic.
3. The dollar is strengthening, bad for gold.
4. Yields are rising, so money will migrate where it earns money.

OK so what to watch

3.Fed expectations change

So rising oil prices is being anticipated as rising inflation concerns, which means rates will remain higher. I would watch the M30 chart, especially as we go into the end of session.

The comments about oil and gold are great from a psychological aspect. You are attempting to trade in a market of confusion while thinking you can capitalize. This is big boy territory and you have to hit and run. The master manipulators (the sharks) are the primary traders and you won't be able to outsmart the same teams who you b*tch about that cause 'stop hunts'. Be careful but trade your chart, don't guess...and ANY news can blow your position.

Just know before a price is gonna be shorted, manipulation takes place on a run UP. Same goes before (gold) can have a run up, it must fall DOWN so positions can be accumulated. Clearly gold should be going up so why isn't it? Either way, zoom out on a Daily chart and you will see it has retraced to the 100 ema, Wkly chart has pulled back to (almost) the 21 day ema. No big deal...accumulation.

Now about the news. Who can be surprised this hasn't already happened? If a country's main export is salt, you hit their salt mines. Iran's only commodity, that also fuels their global terrorist operations, is oil (along with cooperating/sympathetic governments like the US Democrats obviously) so you hit it. If hit with tactical precision, it can easily survive and be rebuilt in the coming months.

I would ask- who attacked? Because the result will be either oil gas going up or buying more from Russia.... Both I think have better alternatives- so which country is so smart to attack Iran's oil facilities - let's see ....
