Trump Deepens Dollar Woes, Saying He’s Not Concerned About Slump

Trading has been significantly more challenging since Trump took office. I run a hybrid approach, combining technicals and fundamentals, but the macro noise has been extreme—tariffs, Fed pushback, government shutdowns, data revisions, and headline risk dominating price action.

To adapt, I initially cut position size by 50% to account for frequent 2-sigma moves and elevated tail risk. Now we’re seeing coordinated Japan–U.S. interventions directly influencing FX, with volatility spilling over into non-USD pairs as well.

Given this regime, I’ve decided to further reduce size, widen TP and SL levels, and treat this year as a risk-management and trade-execution learning phase. Expectations on returns are reset lower, with the goal of preserving capital and sharpening discipline—so that when the political noise fades, I’m positioned as a more balanced and resilient trader.

Meanwhile SP 500 PE is at 41 with the all time high being the dot com bubble 44. Things are going to reset and i am guessing this year though it is hard to tell because I believe it will remain a low interest rate environment, though with rates more traditional and not near zero stuff. So it is a balancing act right now. High valued assets running up against a political nutcase. Manage Risk but stick with themes.
