Suddenly the US feels the heat of China, who has a much longer term plan than the US ever had, which changes its plans every week on every Trump fart.

If Greenland was special, it would have been settled long time ago, the weather makes it impossible to live at, there is very little sun and very cold.

Russia struggles to settle its arctic front, even Kamchatka peninsula, much smaller than Greenland and surrounded by ocean(which makes the weather much better) are only settled by nomads and they are vanishing by the month.

If something is almost impossible to settle, it means it will be impossible to extract natural resources from.

Trump's instinct on Greenalnd's importance for US security is correct. The Russians and Chinese are aggressilvely pursuing leverage on Greenland and in the Arctic. Obviously, Denmark can't defend Greenland and neither can the EU. Proof, the EU did next to nothing in stopping the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The EU knew (so did the USA) the Russians were going to invade years before they did, and did nothing to stop them. The US can not depend on the EU to defend the far northern part of the north Amercain continent. This is obvious to all with common sense and knowledge of history since the end of WWII.

How is China a threat to world peace? Russia is part of the arctic, China is invited by Russia to exploit natural resources in the arctic, so is India.

Russia have exploited a fraction of its own natural resources within its legal boundaries in the arctic, arguing they are aiming to conquer Greenland is neither logical nor based on facts.

National security have become loose term, it can mean anything, US national security cant trump other nations sovereignty and security. US cant have national security all over the world - unless you want US to be world police?... They don't even follow international law.

You should open a lexicon for the definition of national security, initially it was meant to defend your border against external attacks, before US decided to include invading Afghanistan on the other side of the world, setting bar for national security to mean anything, including toppling governments, both close and afar.

It’s acceptable if other countries dislike the United States. Power, not affection, determines outcomes in international politics. Nations comply with U.S. preferences because American economic and military strength outweighs that of any rival. Respect born of fear is sufficient; we do not need admiration. From this perspective, Greenland should fall under U.S. control. For national security, the President should act decisively and secure it.

greenland will serve an unsinkable carrier in the event of russian naval invasion. minerals are just bonus.

it was harry truman who tried to buy greenland. trump hasn't come up with something new as far as policies are concerned but he's quite persistent and he may get what he wants (or not)

Half of Americans have voted for Trump for presidency. How they can complain now ? Other parts of the world just dislike more and more USA about their behavior. How he can impose any tariffs over the purchase of Greenland ? It is completely illegal to do so. SCOTUS really needs to interfere ASAP. He is just threatening the world with his tariffs. On IG Markets the US Indices are tanking now, which is completely logical. I hope the TACO move is on the way soon. Trump is by far the biggest manipulator of Wall Street in history. But I do not understand why this time on tariffs claims the EURUSD is down 60 pips on IG Markets weekend, while usually the EURUSD goes up because the US Dollar is sold on any new tariffs. Anyone can say or is IG Weekend just wrong here ?
