My hats off to you if you can consistently profit off of long term countertrends (very short term trend might be bearish but longer term is bullish).

Countertrend trading short-circuits my brain

I'll admit that I'm the laziest, most boring trader on this forum, I prefer to jump on board the very long term trend and do nothing for months/years riding the trend until it changes.

Gold is going parabolic in a historical run, pushing new ATHs week after week, month after month and so many traders are scalping the short side. I feel exhausted and get anxiety just thinking about the constant decision-making.

I have the highest respect for the day traders that can stay mentally sharp consistently day after day after day, that takes some serious skill and dedication.

I'm sorry, but this is just naive, lazy, mainstream media, fast-food type analysis that doesn't explain why gold prices have been rising since Dec 2015 (~$1,050 per-ounce), long before current U.S.-Venezuela tensions. There are very few "investors flocking to gold", most of the buying is coming from global central banks and sovereign institutions.

If you truly want to understand the actual macro forces driving gold prices, I suggest looking to sovereign debt levels and how they are impacting the global monetary / Eurodollar system.

I appreciate your perspective, brother. Day trading is definitely one of the toughest games in this business- no doubt about it. But for me, the reality was simple: my trading capital and personal circumstances weren’t suited for long-term positioning. The only way I could realistically participate in the markets was through day trading.

It forces you to stay disciplined, sharp, and selective every single session. Unlike riding a multi-month trend, day trading demands constant decision-making and risk management in real time. It’s not about chasing every move, but about carving out consistent edges from intraday volatility.

I respect the long-term trend riders- it’s a different skill set entirely. But for traders like me, day trading isn’t just a choice, it’s the only viable path given the capital constraints. And once you embrace the grind, it becomes less about stress and more about mastering the rhythm of the market day after day.

I hear you mate. It took a lot of trial and error for me to find my trading personality & style, so I know this struggle very well.

I tried day trading but could only keep it up for a few days before decision fatigue sets in. Yes, it takes some serious dedication and discipline. Day trading for me was more about timing and required a completely different approach from long term trend riding, which is more about asset selection.

Gold’s bias is still bearish, just like we saw last Friday. The real question is how deep the next leg down can go. But don’t be surprised if price teases us with a quick bullish pop first- that’s gold’s trademark move before resuming its slide.

I’ve shared something special with the community today. In Price Action, you can’t expect breakout opportunities every single session. Some days are different- they’re about testing your patience and recognizing reversal setups instead.

It honestly took me almost three years to really understand the difference between breakout trading and reversal trading. That distinction is what separates disciplined traders from those who chase every move.

Daily Gold Outlook(19-01-2026)

The overall daily trend on Gold remains bullish. I’m anticipating that the current H1 wick will get filled around the $4688 level, likely during the Pre‑NY or NY session on strong bull volume.

A proper setup could form if H1 builds a solid support base, similar to the structure shown in my attached chart.

Target Area: Resistance at $4688
Bias: Bullish
