Details of the latest consumer sentiment report from the University of Michigan, for the month of November 2025: • Final Oct was 53.6 • Current conditions 52.3 vs 59.2 expected (prior was 61.0) • Expectations 49.0 vs 50.3 expected (prior was 51.2) • 1-year inflation 4.7% vs 4.6% prior • 5-year inflation 3.6% vs 3.7% prior. The headline is the lowest reading since June 2022 as it was narrowly below the Liberation Day lows. It's safe to say that the government shutdown isn't helping. US consumer sentiment fell to a more than three-year low as the government shutdown weighed on the economic outlook and high prices soured views about personal finances. The preliminary November sentiment index dropped to 50.3, the lowest since June 2022, from 53.6 in the prior month, according to the University of Michigan. That was weaker than all but one estimate in a Bloomberg survey of economists. US consumer confidence drops in November
The Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States slipped by 6.2% in November compared to the previous month, to stand at 50.3, a preliminary report posted by the University of Michigan showed on Friday. The figure plunged 29.9% on an annual level. The Current Economic Conditions Index slumped 10.8% in the reported period compared to October and lost 18.2% compared to November 2024, amounting to 52.3 points. The Index of Consumer Expectations declined 2.6% on a monthly basis, but nosedived 26.3% on a yearly basis, coming in at 49.
