How embarrassing it must be see Li Chenggang in the meeting, leading the Chinese discussions with confidence that he's got the back of its leaders and being steady fast. The concluding remark of China’s Li Chenggang said the two sides reached a “preliminary consensus” and will next go through their respective internal approval processes. “The U.S. position has been tough, whereas China has been firm in defending its own interests and rights,” Li said through an interpreter. That is what i will trust and wait.

Trump knows how to negotiate leverage. China’s exports to the U.S. dropped 18% last year, and rare earth production is booming stateside.

A good deal with Trump means America wins, tariffs ease, and markets get a huge boost.
