Finally, a thread for serious professionals. I'll be monitoring the price action on Gold and posting my own analysis. I expect all contributions here to be backed by solid logic, no fluff. Let's get to work.

Weekly Review (Spot & Futures) with weekly Volume Profile and VWAP


Gold: large buyers volume at ATH levels, followed by large sellers volume and aggression (mainly NY session).
large buyers volume on dips, followed by sellers accumulation on rising price.
This behavior indicates to me a potential of high probability reversal environment in the market, as large sellers challenge buyers pressure.
We have seen aggressive buying and absorption of sellers on rising prices until this moment; now we're observing the steady accumulation of seller's volume with absorbed buyers on tops, even as the dips are bought.
For me, this is a tricky environment since the intention and rising pressure of sellers is visible, but they do not claim total control in the current moment since they are still meeting large demand on dips.
I think the buyers will eventually get exhausted as they meet more seller's pressure on the tops, both with aggression and with offers.

Silver: there is a disconnect between the Spot and Futures market price but the environment is generally the same and follows the orders behavior of Gold.
We're seeing practically the same things in both markets, aggressive large buying with absorption of sellers on rising prices, buyers on dips and sellers slowly intending to take control. In the Spot market, they are consistently defending 51 and putting pressure on 50.
I would say buyers are starting to have a difficult time on these prices and soon may not be able to lift the dips anymore.

Copper: "Copper futures plunged more than 4% to below $4.9 per pound on Friday after President Trump warned of a massive increase in tariffs on Chinese goods."
I've been cautious with Copper as the grand american genius likes to make it difficult for people.
I'll be watching $5 on Spot as a key price, looking to trade on the buy side from the range 4.65 - 4.85 as the bias is generally bullish, supported by fears of supply shortages.

Price study on the short-term basis

Evident key prices that gauge the movement of price in the Gold market.
Every $100 level seems to act as a major or primary support or resistence, but a range of $20 above or below a major round number seems to act as a demand or supply zone.
A range of $60 around the middle price between two major round numbers, seems to act as a rotation/consolidation zone.
The dynamics of supply and demand apply: every broken supply becomes demand and every failed demand becomes supply.

We have a situation now where the $20 range above 4,000 turned into supply, while the outcome of the $20 below is uncertain (although it favors the supply side if sellers continue to defend the range above).
4,050 is set as a clear resistence level with trapped buyers on the consolidation volume, while sellers slowly accumulate and afterwards attack with aggression.

Notice in the 6th image how buyer's aggression has low volume on sharp moves, in contrast to the seller's volume on the same type of move. This indicates to me that selling is an actual intention on current prices, not just absorption by bids, and that buyers are starting to fear lifting the offer with significant volume (notice how all the buyer's large volume is more or less passive and doesn't really move price). The buyer's sharp moves with low volume will most likely be algos spiking price to get a higher fill before the selloff.

The last image shows the first area of interest for long entry if we do see a pullback due to the seller's pressure. It is an area of LVN of the monthly profile in confluence with 3,920 which was not tested on breakout. However, the monthly VWAP sits at 950 and got respected multiple times, so we'll see if sellers will be able to break through.

Initial thoughts of the week (13.10 - 17.10) Gold

Sellers failed to take control of 4,000 and its $20 range above. Asia bought.
No large aggression on Monday; however, iceberg orders were spotted on the offer at 4,120 and 4,130 (Futures).
Moreover, I noticed the algos behavior when sellers attempt to short from the VAH: they spike price up to fill large offers quickly, do a stop run and initiate selling; we'll see where that takes us. The bias is bullish but cautious, I would like to see either 4,080 (Spot) to be tested for support/demand or 4,120 breakthrough and retest.
In the opposite bias, I would like to see more icebergs and absorbed/exhausted buyers on tops.

Gold Futures

Icebergs and book flips.
They are either planning to accumulate shorts (icebergs on their offers + their mkt sell orders at bids - apparent book flips) or to accumulate more longs (their mkt buy orders at offers + bids).
Well, since the iceberg is on the offer, we can assume the simplicity thereof: they want to short big.

Weekly Review (13.10 - 17.10)

Gold: decisive buying still dominates the market despite early signs of a reversal (mainly icebergs).
opportunity for a long entry was presented at 4,200 Spot, with five confluences providing strong support for bullish continuation: 1. 4,200 as the support level 2. The $20 range above and below (that is, the $40 around 4,200) as strong demand 3. Weekly VWAP 4. First deviation of the monthly VWAP 5. Weekly PoC

Silver: follows roughly the same market condition; every minor pullback is bought.
the confluence of the weekly VWAP and first deviation of the monthly VWAP failed at ~52.75 Spot and price closed below 52.5, following the price of Gold. However, buyers were found at the demand of 50 - 51 range, wherein sits the monthly VWAP; this could present an opportunity for long entry as price found balance above 50, that is, sellers failed to claim that territory. This supports a bullish continuation.

Copper: consolidating below the weekly and monthly VWAP; mainly indecisive.
I will still consider 5 Spot as the key price for bullish or bearish bias.

Hi duksi

Nice to see another Order Flow Junkie on Forex Factory.

For me it's all about Delta. My best trades are always when Delta is +500 or - 500 contracts on either Gold, NQ or ES.
Particularly, I love to hunt Stop Pools which are positioned above or below Strong Delta readings I see on my 3 gauges.
Add the essential Volume Profile & VWAP indy's and we are all set.

Friday was a great trading day for me, actually took 105 trades between Gold & ES.
Impatience is my enemy but it allows me see to my best trades - I'm not scalping. I'M TRADING

Very nice Rick. Delta is also a main factor for me, but I'm more of a delta-to-price guy. In my footprints I have total volume on the left and delta on the right, just makes things less noisy and brings clarity on key prices or areas.
I won't ever make 100+ trades a day hahah but good for you if you can handle such focus, not many people can. I'm looking to get just a few quality setup trades per week or month.
So what do you think about the current market situation in PM? Is there anything you notice that makes you scratch your head a bit?

Yes, I can recommend some traders on YouTube which I find a good place to start: TraderDale (mainly Volume Profile and VWAP), Michael Valtos (footprints), Bookmap (Depth of Market) and Price Action Volume Trader (Volume Profile, VWAP and footprints - he focuses mainly on delta footprints).
Of course, it is crucial to study price, that's the price action part. Price action can be divided in three main categories (per my understanding): 1. Market participants (buyers and sellers) 2. Market behaviour (how buyers and sellers interact) 3. Market mechanics/dynamics (the outcomes of the interactions; this is where market structure and context occurs).
Remember, the market itself is THE best place to read about it and, in my opinion, "price study" is the main lens or glasses with which you read; order flow is like a microscope into price study, where you are able to see and hopefully read what is actually going on underneath all outcomes.

If I missed something or made an error, I invite others to correct me.

You're welcome; but I see many people are seperating VP and VWAP from order flow, while they are a part of the same. See, whenever there is a tool that's meant to analyze Volume, it is a part of order flow, because Volume is simply a generalization of orders traded. For example, the footprint chart is also just a tool that helps you analyze trading activity or traded volume. Bookmap does a good job with Depth of Market, where you can see passive participants or simply volume that hasn't yet been traded. The Tape also lets you see the incoming market aggression or aggressive volume.
Order Flow is simply the analysis of traded volume and market behaviour/intention according to that volume, in correspondence with price. When you think about it, that's all that really matters in a market; where is the volume, why is volume there and where volume might go next.
I also suggest that you become familiar with Auction Market Theory.

I'm using the ATAS platform. The bubbles are displayed by a filter tool called Big Trades. I think most platforms will call it something along those lines. You choose a minimum amount of contracts or units that are traded at once (or you can choose cumulative/adaptive). This is simply done to follow big players.
