Hello everyone,
sorry, I'm messaging once again....
I wanted to ask if it’s possible to create an Expert Advisor (EA) that takes trades based on order blocks. I have a basic understanding of MQL5 coding, but while developing the EA, I’m facing an issue where it doesn’t correctly identify the valid order blocks.
Here’s the logic behind my strategy:

 

  1. I define a session from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
  2. Within that session, I mark the first and last 15-minute candles to determine the session high and session low order blocks.
  3. After 7:00 PM, a new session begins, and whenever a candle taps into either the session high or session low order block, a trade should be triggered accordingly.


I’d appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to properly code the logic for detecting and trading these session-based order blocks

Also America is a pretty large continent.
Also there is North America, Central America, and South America.
So, in America there are:

Total:

  1. 23 sovereign countries
  2. ~18 dependent territories and regions

    I don't think that they all have the same regulations...

  2. Institutional and professional traders routinely hedge this way.

Workarounds

  1. U.S. traders sometimes open two separate accounts with different brokers to manually “hedge,” but this still has limitations and practical issues (margin, execution delays, etc.).
  2. Non-U.S. brokers (regulated outside the NFA/CFTC, e.g. in the U.K., Australia, etc.) generally do allow hedging freely.

However, if you really want to do the STUPID's HEDGE on GOLD against GOLD, you need two accounts in the USA.
If you only have one retail, not Futures, account, you need to hedge GOLD either against USDX or an FX USD related instrument which is correlated inversly to GOLD. That is, if the GOLD instrument you are trading is denominated in USD, not another currency...

PS. I hope that you realise that a "hedge" of GOLD against GOLD is a stupid idea, it's NOT a hedge, and no professional will ever do such a thing??? Somebody who does this, simply doesn't know what they are doing, does not know how to lose/invest money in order to profit, and therefore must necessarily lose in the end.

PPS. Of course, there is one case where hedge on the same instrument is smart, but that only applies to hedged profits, not losses.

Thank you for your precise and constructive point of view.
You are correct that this version is not built based on the Volume Profile. Additionally, the candlestick used is a Virtual Candlestick, which may not have optimal performance under certain conditions. There is certainly room for improvement on these aspects.
Taking your comments into account, I have also designed a complementary indicator based on Delta, which I am sending to you as an attachment to this message. I hope you find it useful.

Did you read what I posted?
What you are looking for is impossible in Dallas Texas!
Please read the NFA/CFTC regulations.
You CAN NOT have 1:2000 leverage or a hedge retail account in Dallas Texas.
In the U.S., for retail forex trading, regulators cap leverage at 1:50 for major currency pairs (majors) and 1:20 for “other” currency pairs (this includes GOLD and other non-Futures commodities).
You can not trade GOLD like in Mozambique!
You can trade penny stocks in the USA, without leverage, or just 1:2 max leverage.
In the USA, leverage limits for retail traders depend on what market you’re trading:
Retail Futures Leverage (including GOLD Futures)
For GOLD futures (GC) on the COMEX, there are no fixed leverage caps by law like in forex — instead, it’s determined by the exchange margin requirements and your broker’s policies.
As of 2025, here’s roughly what that looks like:
ContractExchange Initial Margin Notional Value (approx.) Effective Leverage
GC (100 oz Gold Futures) around $9,000–$12,000 about $240,000 ≈ 20:1 – 25:1
MGC (Micro Gold Futures, 10 oz) around $900–$1,200 about $24,000 ≈ 20:1 – 25:1
