Why 1 minute Forex or CFD charts of the same trading asset are different from broker by broker?


That’s a really good question — and one that almost every day trader eventually runs into.
Even though it’s the same trading asset, your 1-minute charts can look different broker to broker because of how Forex and CFDs are structured and how brokers feed you data. Here are the main reasons:
1. No Central Exchange in Forex/CFDs

1. Unlike stocks (which trade on one exchange), spot Forex and most CFDs are OTC (over the counter).
2. Each broker gets price quotes from its own liquidity providers (banks, ECNs, other brokers).
3. That means Broker A’s EUR/USD bid-ask stream might not exactly match Broker B’s.

2. Server Time & Candle Closing

1. A 1-minute candle is just: open, high, low, close within that minute.
2. If Broker A’s server clock runs on GMT+2 and Broker B’s is on GMT+0, their "one-minute" windows start and end at slightly different times.
3. Even a few seconds difference changes which ticks fall into which candle → different highs, lows, and closes.

3. Data Filtering & Tick Density

1. Some brokers filter ticks to reduce server load or “smooth” prices.
2. Others push every tick they receive.
3. Result: one chart might look smooth with fewer wicks, another more jagged.

4. Liquidity & Spread

1. If Broker A’s liquidity provider has a slightly wider spread during a volatile second, your candles may show a different wick than Broker B’s.

I gave up day trading Nat Gas futures and instead I have started Gold futures scalping. Predicting one or two bars in the future is relatively much easier than 10 - 20 bars ahead. Longer you stay in the market, bigger the risk you take. Market is very whimsy and she herself doesn't know where to go. Only temporary momentum can give you a slight more edge. Especially Nat Gas is a quite thin market and manipulations are everywhere. Sometimes it follows trend very nicely, but many times it plants traps on every corner of the road. It's very volatile and some people like it very much but to be honest, it's not the best one for scalping for many reasons. Good thing is I didn't waste my time totally. I still use my same system for gold scalping. The things changed are trading time horizon and trading asset I trade. Now I am targeting one or two bars only. You may call it an extreme scalping. The result looks positive although it's too early to tell. I posted a live TE from yesterday for reference. I may not post MT5 trading regularly because I already have started trading using Daytrader prop firm eval accounts (I blew up all 5 pro accounts recently). I will still trade nat gas calendar spread so, not totally said goodbye to nat gas.


Today I had 3 wins and 1 loss.

He blew up all his prop firm accounts again and walked away from daily live streaming at the moment. Statistically his accounts cannot survive more than 100 days. Among the Youtube trading influences, it looks Patrick Wieland is performing the best. Not surprisingly, he is an extreme scalper.

This is about an hour before the regular exchange open and price action is already becoming tricky. I felt this with nat gas and now gold looks the same. Many many people say during regular trading hours trading becomes much difficult because all the professionals come back to work. Better avoid it.



For example, in the picture above PA is obviously bullish. PA and indicators all told it was bullish. Professionals know that and would often intentionally push it down hard below the swing low to take stops. That's what I suffered during nat gas day trading. That way I want to stay in the market as quickly as I can.

Perhaps this is the first and the last trade today. I was busy with personal affair during the day and just came back to my computers. I don't like professionals dominating market session.

Motivewave version 7 has been officially released but their trade copier is still quite buggy. Just hopeless people...... Sticking to Quantower.

Although I didn't trade it I see this was the high provability trade. JMA and CCI both agree, PA also agrees (pin bar bouncing above 50 EMA).... Good to make a quick 15 - 20 ticks of profit.

My observation about MA so far:

JMA > HMA > ZLEMA > ALMA (based on speed and efficiency)

Jurik is all time best and no reason to use other contenders when I have the best one. When you have a Mercedes, you don't want Hyundai or Toyota anymore right? EMA (50 & 200 in my case) is still very useful to find S/R though.

Two small trades so far.... Later part of pre-session is rather slow and consolidating Friday today. Just quick in and out.

By the way fading the pinbars works nicely usually. I learned it from Senja.
