It’d be relevant if I was driving . I would have had to sue him for the cost of my car . That would have set him back at least , a cool ( arbitrary figure ) £500 .

I couldn’t have him making another bankruptcy claim , it’d be on my conscience for at least 24 hours .

haha - catching up on the morning news bulletins here. I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that humorous. I guess by "independent" he means that they should independently do exactly what he wants them to?

Maybe Trump meant that the President should not be able to dictate the decisions of the FED (and then he re-states the fact that "Powell cut rates by 50bps to get sleepy [crooked...or whatever other disrespectful adjective Trump settles on today] Joe elected")?

I guess Trump could just inherently believe he is correct and that we need to immediately cut rates by 300-400bps. So, constantly saying that the FED should cut "NOW", threatening to fire the chair and other board members to replace them with individuals who will do as the president wants, and pointing to a robust economy (while ignoring the abysmal job numbers and weak USD) makes sense.

Whatever the case, the markets really have ceased caring about outlandish statements (so it would seem). I envision them like a parent patting a tantrum-throwing child on the back saying "it's okay buddy, I know, I know, they aren't listening, now, go back out there, have fun, and play nicely....."

Trump doesn't get credibility. As a child he might have been deprived of reading Aesop's fables like The boy who cried wolf.

I like from the wiki entry that.. "In a later English-language poetic version of the fable, the wolf also eats the boy."
