The trouble is, the Europeans don't worry Putin, so they can't make a deal without the U.s/Trump. The deal will be that Putin keeps all the land he has gained, incl Crimea, no NATO m/ship, but Eu m/ship - well maybe,? but in some time, Zelensky will go anyway, and as for Ukraine becoming more Moscow-centric - well that's a hard one to enforce anyways, in a country with with free elections which Zelensky won't give up. Moscow may make a small concession in return of some land in the current 'disputed' areas that they are still fighting over on the edges of the larger regions Russia has already taken, but who knows on this point? This is just 'real politique' as they call it, it's not right and it's not fair, but it's the way it is or keep fighting in a war you can't win/that the west won't supply you with enough arms to win, - it doesn't matter - it amounts to the same thing. It's a Russian win unfortunately, (for now @ least,) and Ukraine have to decide which is the least worst outcome for them. There are no good outcomes. Frankly if the deal has any hint of security guarantees from the U.s/Nato as reported today, Zelensky would be a fool not to take it, notwithstanding the other matters listed above, because as stated, it's a war he cannot win anyway, so to throw more lives and other resources at it is crazy.

Zelensky is not the president. His term ran out months ago. Even in world war 2 they held elections. Hold elections so peace can be done by a rightful president

Obvious that Trump wants out of any support for Ukraine. US can sell arms to EU countries and they can supply Ukraine, but unless French, British, Dutch, German, etc boots are on the ground, Ukraine is running out of troops, and that's that. The "secondary tariffs" ie, sanctions against countries doing business with Russia proved to be toothless, as India and China would not back down from that. What these years of war have shown is 1) how weak militarily Russia is (but they will probably emerge stronger); and 2) how diminished the USA has become under Trump (but it's certainly not all on Trump.) Putin probably advised his protege that the USD's reserve currency status is not as secure as it has been (to say the least.) Russia, India, China et al could revolt against the USD and then we would see what the USA means to the World. I mean, without the mighty Dollar and with the US military abandoning its role as World Policeman, where does that leave us?
