Easy to generalize but if we look closely at Gold historical price movement vs the $ Index, you'll all notice the almost nonexistent negative correlation since ~2015. There was a hidden divergence that got exposed... Now, I'm betting on another one but toward the opposite direction downward....Here, talking long term technically ofcourse.

My opinion Technically.

Well I see gold ranging for the rest of the Month of May (3500- 2950) and even Q2 after an impressive shoot. Take a look at the MN6 candle. Its the longest and even exceeded 3 x ATR. So i think its safe now to take random Long/short scalps on Gold.

Sentimentally it may float above 3k. Its time for a pause for Bitcoin to take off (after cooling off too). Large scale investors put money into Gold & Bitcoin to hedge against the dollar.

They have embraced the risk in Bitcoin as returns are may more bigger than that of Gold.

Been studying the Gold/Bitcoin correlation for months now and see how these players switch investments between these two assets. No more Paper Money!

Maybe Chiforex you should start a new thread and name it "BITCOIN/GOLD Correlation" or anything better. Im also getting to align myself trading BTC/XAU as a pair rather than BTC/USD or XAU/USD (as Thomas rightly said USD is losing value over time). So suggestion would help what platforms offers BTC/XAU or XAU/BTC as a pair. Vaultoro is one of them but volume seems low last time I checked.

The USD index is a basked of currencys, in my opinnion weightet the wrong way.

Currently it is:

 

  1. Euro (EUR): 57.6%
  2. Japanese Yen (JPY): 13.6%
  3. British Pound (GBP): 11.9%
  4. Canadian Dollar (CAD): 9.1%
  5. Swedish Krona (SEK): 4.2%
  6. Swiss Franc (CHF): 3.6%

    57.6% of Euro, what about china, russia, india? Austrailian dollar is missing which is 6.37% of global currency volume with a daily volume of 223 Billion usd.
    The point is DXY is not accurate against gold, not a true representation of USD value since its 57% Euro and major currencys missing in this index, too much Euro.

Just checking the comparison ! Usdx is almost flat in contrast gold spikes , like inflating balloon to it's maximum by some kids or hiking prices by some scammers irrationally as gold should not more than oil or water even , people not eat or having it's it's precious usage or even using more more ornaments by these time that demand increased this way ! So artificially inflated and this hype must break Monday! And if got the top of burst then limit down be 1920 levels and ultimately below 1043 all possible !! And time may come nobody will buy it while they need food or Water instead instead !! Anyway no top fixed yet , but time watch for sure!! Just technical and may predict a greatest disaster like come to controll such luxuries or hit/ bite to kill all scammers one-day !!

Somehow my thoughts but not that dramatically, it will need time like on the long term.. Add to it EU below parity....
