Excess hydropower in Ontario has been exported into the US since the 1970's. The US also imports electricity from Mexico into border areas, and has done so for over a century. Trade deficits just mean you import more than you export. How else are you gonna stock your local Walmart shelves? If you want to bring more manufacturing into the states prepare for some massive sticker shock. The USA contributes to 16% of NATO funding, the deal was countries spend 2% of their GDP on defense so really the numbers aren't that far out. As for the russian invasion of Ukraine there was an agreement made to protect Ukraine and its sovereignty in exchange for Ukraine giving up their nukes ( they were the third largest nuclear power in the world) . Obama dropped that ball when Crimea was annexed and both Biden and Trump are following suit. You aren't giving away money you are making deals and paying for some of those deals, and welshing on others I might add. On the subject of US economy being destroyed....
I grabbed some tomato on vine yesterday and I was sure it was from a local greenhouse, so I didn't check the label. Later I looked closely and saw it was product of Mexico. Only .79 cad/lbs.

Looks like local and Mexican cheaper produce and maybe other products are flowing more between Canada and Mexico.

Just look at this beautiful tomato. Lol. Been eating them like fruit. Can't wait until Avocados arrive.

Also there was a pile of old rotting US carrots on clearance reduced to $1 per bag.
US seems to be falling out of the picture quickly if produce is a sign.
Even more interesting, this was a Walmart with very diverse employees and slowly and quietly switching to non_American products.

That was even sweeter than the tomatoes.

Burden share and fiscal responsibility are serious concerns. Since Russia's invasion, EU spend on Russian energy has dropped significantly, and some of that has been replaced by US LNG. This is a massive infrastructure and logistics challenge, but the EU is not priorizing Russian energy over support to Ukraine. NATO defense spending is a completely separate issue, and conflating this with energy spend is both irrelevant and nieve.

You should include capital inflows from those countries to USA as well as service balances. Also, include the benefits to US people from being able to buy the products much cheaper imported compared to be produced in USA.
