Quoting JimmyJoeDislikedHi it`s one of the best indicators out there if you can use it properly. It works well with JPY crosses and majors as well. Try searching on this and other forums for ichimoku threads you will find some valuable info regarding ichimoku trading. It can be used as a standalone trading system but a I found that the most reliable part of it is the cloud. Not just acting as S/R zones but for determining the trend. If the price is below the cloud, it means that we have a downtrend and vice versa. At first you will find it a bit confusing but after some practice you will see how precisly it describes the overall happening in the market.
Note how hard it is for the price to penetrate the cloud and once it is within the cloud the boundaries of the cloud act as S/R. If the price mades it through the cloud then a trend change is highly probable.Ignored
Quoting thatchmanDislikedBesides the support/resistance provided by the cloud formation, the following setup signals are provided by this indicator
"A bullish signal is issued when the Tenkan-Sen (green line) crosses the Kijun-Sen (purple line) from below. On the other hand, a bearish signal is issued when the Tenkan-Sen crosses the Kijun-Sen from above.
Moreover, there are, in fact, different levels of strength for the buy and sell signals of an Ichimoku chart.
First, if there was a bullish crossover signal and the crossover occurred above the Kumo (or clouds), this would be considered a very strong buy signal (indicated with three green up arrows). In contrast, if there was a bearish crossover signal and the crossover occurred below the Kumo, this would be considered a very strong sell signal (indicated with three red down arrows, as above).
Secondly, a normal buy or sell signal would be issued if the crossover took place within the Kumo (or clouds). These signals would be indicated with two green up arrows, for a buy signal, and two red down arrows, for a sell signal.
Thirdly, a weak buy signal would be issued if there was a bullish crossover that occurred below the Kumo (or clouds). This is indicated with only one green up arrow (as above). On the other hand, a weak sell signal would be issued if there was a bearish crossover that occurred above the Kumo. This is indicated with only one red down arrow."
It can be very accurate for the longer timeframes, daily and longer.Ignored
Quoting ravindra_dsaDislikedthanks for the clue..
any info for entry, target and proportional stop?Ignored
DislikedEntry signals are those described by thatchman in post #7. Another and I found to be the most reliable is when price after penetrating the kumo closes above or below it - it is very likely that it will continue that way.
Unfortunately ichimoku will give you no clue about targets.
You can use the boundaries of the cloud as SL but be careful if doing so.Ignored
DislikedHello all,
I've finished creation of the very first wiki dedicated to the study of Ichimoku Kinko Hyo. If you are tired of hunting around the Net trying to patch together the scant information on this amazing charting system, this wiki will be like a breath of fresh air as it goes into depth about Ichimoku Kinko Hyo, its foundations, its technical make-up, and its application to the Forex. Trading strategies are also covered in exhaustive detail, complete with rules around entries, stop-loss placement and take profit points.
Don't worry - the wiki is a 100% free resource for any and all to use to learn more about Ichimoku, so don't get the idea I'm selling anything here. I'm just very excited to be able to release this resource after compiling my experience with this system along with that of my partner, Vincent Hunt, as we both are dedicated Ichimoku Kinko Hyo analysts.
Check it out! www.boersmaanhunt.com/ichimoku_wiki
