So, all and all, US inflation is higher than hoped for, although aligns with expectations, so does this mean the market will dial down chances of rate cut by September and thus have longs liquidated sometime soon?

Headline inflation has dropped under 3% - good news for the fed, supports the rate cut narrative.

Bad for the DXY coz - coz it supports the rate cut narrative, investors would liquidate positions and short it to oblivion (probably until the US elections)

Theoretically this is bullish for Gold,

lower interest rates = more people can buy and hold gold for long
cheaper dollar (because its dropping coz rate cut narrative) = gold is cheaper for foreign investors coz the dollar is cheaper

Among all these, safe haven appeal is also in play for the gold and the dollar due to world conflicts, bit messy situation

No headline inflation is below 3% and on its way to the feds target of 2%, this supports the rate cut narrative

I am incredibly satisfied with how CPI turned out. There was some volatility, yes, however much, much less than I thought it would be. All Longs are safe and sound, for now.

Now, I have the time to re-analyse the whole situation and also have the time to dump my Longs if proven necessary. Couldn't really wished for more than this and that is the luxury of having the time.

The data is only highlighting what I have bee saying for months.
Investors are realising most statistics were "cooked", some of the items intentionally taken out to make cpi look rosy...well it's evident for everyone to see.


My crystal ball indicates that last highs likely to be challenged soon.
