The elephant in the room is inflation in USA,UK and EU. That is the problem of highest order. Russia is so important in energy markets,that we can end up with energy crisis a la '70. Western world is already in inflationary spiral,thanks to enormous debts/deficits and money printing,we don't need oil at 200 USD or gas at 2000 USD per 1000m3. It is over. Bear is awakened and somebody will get hurt. When Russia says Ukraine will be demilitarised and rocket bases in Poland and Romania must be removed,than that will be achieved one way or the other. And no more NATO bombers/destroyers anywhere near Russia.

Today, Credit Suisse is the most corrupt bank of all. Even to the point they forced into Swiss law the ability to incarcerate up to 5 years anyone "trying" to infiltrate their secret dealings with: drug lords, Russian mafia, dictators, human traffickers, politicians......name them, and if they need to hide money, Credit Suisse is their bank of choice! So, if we are going to the sanctions "thing", ..........

.......maybe first, we should move our own "peace keeping' troops into Switzerland, and completely dismantle that F...king operation!

Then prohibit any SWIFT member bank (covers all significant ones remaining) from doing business with Russia. That will take the wind out of their sails.

Will he get closer to China as a fellow member of the West's object of disdain?
What a shame the world cannot trade together without politicos ( Eastern or Western) posturing for power and influence. If it's not religeon, it is territory or some other coveted ambition.

Btw all of this is predicted by Timothy Snyder's book Road to Unfreedom. Putin must have Ukraine, it's critical to his oligarchy's survival. If Ukraine goes to the EU that means democracy is knocking on Russia's door.

This will be a PR battle, like most of Russian's modern attacks. I think we'll also see their blackhats play a large role. At best we're in a new cold war with Russia, at worst we're on the way nuclear threats. Putin is fighting for survival so don't expect this to go away.

Judging by the amount of likes, most people agree with me. At this point, I can't even see how any idiot who voted for him doesn't regret the decision. Of course, a good portion of those were ballots of the deceased, so really can't blame them.

Nice chart but I don't see anything about Russia or Ukraine. Snyder actually predicted that Russia would invade Ukraine and deny they were doing it while they were doing it. He explains why they need Ukraine and why they use their chosen tactics. To Russia experts this is unfolding exactly as expected.

In fact Putin doesn't need Ukraine for anything... for Russia Ukraine not an asset but a huge liability... it would be a burden for Russia... before it used to be economic cooperation, but not now... all the industrial goods that had been produced in Ukraine are no longer in demand in Russia because former Ukrainian import has already been replaced now by Russian own production... Putin's task is to neutralize Ukraine as a potential military threat...
