More than 10 years ago there was a team of 4 people 1 trader in the UK 1 in the US and 1 in Australia and 1 in Japan. They traded as a team on the same account that they had jointly funded. The result is that each one of them was trading 6 hours a day on their forex time slot and they were making lots of money. This concept is not knew and it works but the problem is the find good traders willing to do this. Since my 2 children live in 2 different continents than me I tried to do this but it did not work because they are not good traders so I had to cover their losses with my profits. This is totally different than people trading their own account in a trade room relying of signals from one or a few traders.

In my humble opinion, at least as a trend following breakout day trader, I think we have less than 6 hours of active market per day (actually far less than 6 hours in natural gas trading). After some decent move in a day, market just starts to choppy around before close. Forex may have longer active market hours but even in forex, tradeable hours are limited. Of course, it can be different strategy by strategy (ex. counter trend or fading the breakout strategies could have longer tradable hours).

This is official. I am done with day trading. After 10 years of very hard working endeavour, finally I have concluded there's no way to consistently make money in this game. Even if I can make some money, it doesn't big enough to justify my time spending. I am getting old now and I hate spending 4-6 hours a day watching computer monitors. Life is short and this is absolutely waste of my time. I regret I didn't give up earlier or even I started this gambling. It's shame there are so many people waste their time in this gambling. Work hard and save...

I was wrong! This is official again, I've changed my mind. Now I will become an outright day trader exclusively. I don't need spread trading anymore. I've got second 'Eureka Moment'. After more than 10 years in this business, you can immediately tell which one has a sustainability or not. It took much more time than I expected but I made it finally anyway. Thank God......

It all depends on the asset traded. For example oil (Brent and WTI) have a decent market all day with a high ATR but not natural gas (Low ATR this week but last month more than 30 each day) with spread of 0.8-0.9 pips. However, with each pip worth $100 with natural gas so all you need is a good trade to make your day. Also all JPY pairs are quite active in the Asian session with decent spread with regional brokers.

Look at this crap the first 19 candles happened within the first minute of trading today. After that a flat market for more than 2 hours.
Sometimes trading conditions are good and sometimes they are bad. More reasons to trade assets other than natural gas.

Boring market is good cause it means it will explode sooner or later. Daily is range bounded at the moment but it won't last long, either make or break. Momentum energy is being stacked behind.....

Perhaps I won't have a trading opportunity today. Price gap opening is difficult to trade. At least I don't have any strategy to trade the gaps. However, normally I still find a couple of day trading opportunities each day with nat gas.

By the way, because of the same reason of your chart, I don't like Renko or Range Bar chart. Nice moves often happen within very short period of time, which makes people difficult to enter timely.

By the way, this is what I am doing each day:

A: I patiently wait a breakout (indicators and price action used)
B: Very often breakouts have pull-backs, which are sometimes deep. My entry is 50%-75% pull-back. SL is previous swing high/low.
C: If it's a genuine breakout, it's often followed by a quick and powerful movement. I ride this quick movement and set SL to BE. After this powerful movement, often a powerful counter pull-back comes (counter trend traders jump in). I want to take this quick money and run. I don't want/need home run tradings. Yes, it can move much higher/lower and you may regret your quick exit. I don't care. With reasonable leverage, this strategy is short-term and long-term winner.

Actually I have pretty good eyes to identify who are fake gurus. Speaking like a guru and acting like a guru doesn't mean they are real gurus. Trust me, most people you come across in FF are net losers and 99% of active posters in pivot factory are net losers.

MT5 more popular than MT4 now?
I think it's broker wise statistics due to MT5's lower royalty cost levied by Metaquotes compared to MT4's. I strongly suspect forex traders still prefer MT4 to MT5. However I see MT5 is getting more used among futures traders. I really need MT4 because my indicators won't be able to ported to MT5. Many of them even came without source code. When MT4 becomes ready for decommission, people will devise something to hook MT4 to MT5 for data feeding.

One of the challenges in NG trading is, very often, big trends start hours before pre-market open. It makes people difficult to catch relatively easier and safer entry opportunities. When market makers have an agenda, they even don't wait until market open....
