iClose(Symbol(),PERIOD_MN1,1) will return the close price of the last month

my objective is to get the close prices of last 12 months, draw a horizontal line for each price and abel each line with the exact month name to which it belongs as january2021 and so on

can this be done

example only show months of current year

I am looking for something similar to XandraSummaryI.ex4
But with Open Price added and fixing "Buy sell texts are not disappearing from the chart " bug.
And also it doesn't appear properly on my chart.

If possible please... could I have the indie not show by default. (Lines_bojack34_v1.51.ex4)
so it only shows the lines when I click the button (I often switch timeframes)

- input how many months back
- general styling options

updated file
- year in the texts too

Post updated, no source file, but I'll answer anything about it.

General jist is:
- in oncalc, check for a new month n compare to the last saved month to proceed or not, so that on loading the main stuff only runs once per new terminal month or on first loading or tf changing, and not every tick
- you need to collect price data of a certain tf (or use the current chart only but its more typing), going back input x periods, and for every period, make a line+text from that price data n time, so thats the goal
- so make a loop starting from 1, which would be the previous month, to start, and increment up till you hit the input limit, in every loop you know how to get the close price, give the shift value the loop counter, and also do something similar for time as well, and you'd have the make line+text stuff inside this loop too

Using MQL5, use function ChartIndicatorAdd() and ChartIndicatorDelete(). However, it's something like all your indicators combined into one indicator by calling icustom etc, no need to put the logic of your indicators calculations, just need to call out the the indicators using icustom, then control the deletion and addition of the indicators into the chart, so not really a universal way to be able to apply to any chart, i.e. the indicators to be added need to be predefined in the input parameters.

As for MQL4, ChartIndicatorAdd() function is not provided, so can't do it this way, will be less direct, the only workaround is what the others have already shown you, either setting the size of Subwindows to very small or using templates method via ChartApplyTemplate(). The pros and cons others have already shared with you, I wouldn't elaborate further. Sorry that I won't have time to help you to write one for your own indicators.

Yeah. You already said that too many times. No worries, I told you that it can be done and here you have it. Find it attached.

I have made it too quickly and I couldn't test it enough, but hope it helps. If you find some issues, just let me know and I will create a new version when I get some time.

For this specific case, there is no need of DLLs. I know that it wasn't an issue from your side but because it can be done without them, I made it without them.

It is an indicator. You mentioned that an indicator would suit better for you.

Features:
- You can select in which window to set back the indicator. (jeanloui said that this wasn't possible)
- You won't lost lines or any other object that there are on the chart. (jeanloui said that this wasn't possible)
- You can change indicator settings. Won't be lost. (jeanloui said that this wasn't possible)
- You can use several indicators in the same window.
- etc.

In the second line of the buttons, it will appear those windows that you have removed. If you click any of these second line buttons, a new group of buttons will appear. These new group of buttons let you select the window number in which you would like to add back your indicator.

It can't show in my chart, it shows in the navigator window, when I click it, just the about, color, visualization tabs appears, but then nothing.

Maybe because I renamed the indicator?, I put a (1) before the name ...1windows manager?, because it didn't show at the "navigator" tab, maybe to many indies?

Indicator now showing at the "navigator" Tab, such windows manager, installed it, showing the same tabs than before, and nothing happens..?

Very well done, it doesn't handle subwindow indicators that have settings in their shortname more than once and there's no error printouts, ie custom indicators, else it works fine. So please do gloat and educate me, it would be very welcomed, I've provided many files here, even a few that I were told by the user they couldn't get done anywhere else, but all with mql4, so your file that needs no dlls would increase by toolbox. I'm surprised it's all in the ex4, is it just mql4 or you've managed to compile in other stuff?

Yeah ok I see what you were going for, PERIOD_60 isn't a built in tf name you can use, the proper period name would be PERIOD_H1, https://docs.mql4.com/constants/char...num_timeframes . With that said you could also put 60 alone and it would work. The other compile warnings are for functions that are not void and are suppose to return something, ie return(something) at the end of the function, they aren't critical errors so you could still use it.
