It would be rude not to respond. But I mean this as an economist would - seeing the stimulus as a means to an end in a policy (fiscal) stance that supports the circular flow of money at a point most needed. Do not know much about the domestic politics of it however (and do not much care for that), but from an economics perspective - would be the thing to do now (and for instance the choice of starting the process through the underprivileged is just a basic choice about starting point since most of the money will still end up with dominant economic classes all the same - in the short term at least - so it is the effect on the circular flow of money that is residual in effect). Just pre-empting any politics since in fact I would not have much of an opinion there. Cheers

Very good for the American people, lucky too they have leadership that think of their people first. But I doubt it will do much for Gold even near-term. In at least 2 other threads, I have offered the conventional wisdom in allowing for some kind of correction up on new week open, e.g. 1733 (I also personally favour a rise at this point to be more confident trading down). But it is also true that I have assumed many participants would have bet on something as certain as the package passing (given ruling party control of the Senate). However, I actually trade by a multi-fractal model of the market and one of the many useful things it does is read what fluctuation (Hurst) type is ongoing intraday and what fluctuation (Hurst) type is ongoing beyond that scale. What I read intraday, is the high probability of a rotation lower on open (as opposed to say a price jump or gap up). Longer-term fractures (D1, W, and M), all register as trading persistent series (strong down). My model is back tested as having only a 1/20 chance of error (reasonable risk I think medium - long term). So in my book it does not look like such positive "news" as the rescue plan will help Gold now or in the near future. Of course there is a general discount in market talk allowed for such an outcome - some will argue that it was already "priced in." But "priced in" or not it would be a "bad omen" for Gold and any prospects of a near term uprising (even a corrective one). That would be in itself a strong measure of intensification.

PS: One measure of intensification is the number of bars and range of corrective or countercyclical moves intraday and otherwise. The shorter the phases up and longer the phases down the greater the intensity down (as can be seen from this, price is an affine fractal). However, this measure is also true just before a reversal (since the condition is exactly true before a reversal) which in my trading says exit on Fisher Transform delta (that is not true yet). I mention this because it is possible also that we are about to see a major pullback in D1, W and M starting of course with D1, given that price moves scale across the number line.

As you know from long experience. informed professional comment carries little weight here.

Re Gold. The story right now is really about Bond Rates and the dollar. Neither favoring gold imho.

Silver still in play but seems like the pressure holding it in check is quite substantial. Even with the wide spreads of physical price to market price.

With 1 trillion unspent from previous covid packages, with covid cases plummeting, with only 20 or 25% of this covid package being directed to covid expenditures, There surely is no emergency need to pass this boondoggle.

Yes bonds an incredible negative correlation with Gold indeed. But in reality one predicts the other. Actually since both lines are fractured lines (fractals) and using a chart I saw in some article - I think dailyfx - I was able to derive the Rules of Recursion in that relationship and read intensification each time the 2 lines tangle (as they have in February). Because both are complexed to infinity (by the Iterated Function Systems formalism of fractal geometry) the relationship is true across all slices of market time (all time frames). That is a powerful thing to say. But even the more subject rules of the thumb in "technical" analysis e.g. the so-called "death cross" support the notion of intensification. Seems also many big guns in trouble and on the wrong side of the market, hence the open advocacy to Powell to step in but he has promptly told everyone to buzz off on that one. Silver has this funny lag with Gold (a bit like the Euro) - their movements are clearly related but have not taken time to work out the Rules of Recursion. But Silver might follow at some point (see when it finally rallied to extremes ala Gold?). Any way interesting times ahead.

True but just being myself and trying as much as possible to reflect my interests, and as such engaging on that basis without offending anyone. It is also true that from time to time people do share interesting thoughts in terms of informed comments.
