Would you be able to help me please?

I can no longer set price alert on mt4. It was working fine until it stops appearing.

When I right-click on the chart and select trading , then alert, it fails to appear on the chat.

The last time I had this issue, I had to uninstall and re-install mt4. I do not want to go through this route.

Right click on very close to running bid/ask price line,it will spot/draw a short dotted (alert bid) red line,when price reaching at and or going above/under that red dotted line,terminal will be alarming you with a sound alert
after few alarming sounds lines will be removed automatically as specified numbers of vistles or timeout
you can draw that bid line anywhere then modify,right click this red line to open your required window you was talking about
right click at that dotted red line to modify/relocate where ever you like (a popup window will be displayed) where you can set/alter/adjust required parameters,for example "iterations,timeout and rest of"

Hi Mntiwana,

Thanks for your response. I do know how to set the alert and I have used it for over 8 years.

The problem I am having is I can no longer set it. When I create a new alert, it does not show up on chart, in order words, the red line does not come up. That is why I added the screenshot so you know I know how to set it up only that it fails to appear on the chart.

Femfam,

Can you try this please - Open up a fresh chart. Right click on the chart and go to Template, then Save Template, and call it "Clear"

Once this is saved, go back to the chart your having a problem with the alerts, and change the template to Clear, which will remove all objects, EA's, Indicators and so on

Then see if you can add the alert again.

so guessing there is something wrong with your client terminal and or possibly turn default from right click at chart property and from tools-options

Thanks for your response.

I will try to explain this again, I have used alert on mt4 for over 8yrs so I understand how it works.

I have also used alert on my chart from Monday till today (Wednesday) on the same chart and it has been working well. However, today, I set the alert to sound when price gets to a particular level, after it gets to that level, it goes off and eventual disappear after 10 seconds (this is how it is expected to work, I get it). After the alert has gone off and disappeared, I attempted to place another alert below the current price level but this time, I did not see the alert line nor do I hear any sound when price reached that level. I did not change any settings on my chart or anything so I did not expect this behavior.

I experienced the same problem last year but I could not find any solution online so I had to uninstall and re-install mt4. I do not want to this type of solution this time around which is why I posted it hear to see if anyone has experienced it before.

I will still hope someone will be able to help me otherwise, I will have to go through the pain of reinstallation.

There are plenty of line alert indicators around, some good ones in fact.
why not try something different ?

If you want to try an indicator option, you can set/adjust/delete on the fly.
