The way I see it if you cannot hold it in your hands it doesn't exist I can touch my paper fiat money in the 5 currencies that I hold and I can touch my gold coins. On the other hand I cannot touch my Bitcoin; can you? Already many governments have banned the use of crypto currencies or won't allow Bitcoin ATMs or both. This doesn't bode well for crypto currencies. Crypto currencies is only an asset class that can be traded or exchanged for real money but this is as far as it will ever go. Existing crypto currencies will never be accepted as official currencies by any governments since they could not control them as they are all mined by private individuals. The only thing that may happen is that governments may decide to issue their own crypto currencies but they will just be as bad as fiat currencies since they could issue them as they wish.
