Sure there is: discipline. You can have ten years or more experience but without discipline keeping you away from greed and fear it might end up very badly.

Non sequitur? This place is depicting what is said here. Ghosts of multi burned accounts so-called traders are desperately haunting the forums for a new ...thing, years after years. Why? Unable to diligently stick to anyone of them, lack of patience, over-sized trades etc... That does not hold them from posting tips, sometimes ridicule beginners' lack of knowledge be it in terminology (what? you don't know what SSMA means? OMG!) and so on.

Discipline and patience are the key to collect the fruits of compounding results.

So true, plus even more discipline and experience. 4,5,7th. points are easy to say, but almost impossible for most of individual traders to follow. Solutions could depend upon personality, but for me (and may be many others) game theory was the one that fits. In corporate structures were is possible to separate risk management, fundamental analysis and technical analysis, decision making, ect. it one story, but for individual trader as myself, I must be really creative to distance my trading process from money making/losing, greed, overconfidence ect.

Whenever anyone questions one of these writers for firm entry/exit/re-entry criteria, the standard response is either 'discipline is key!', 'patience is key!' or 'psychology is key'...and round and round we churn...

Indeed. Trading is not so much about making money - but not losing it. Basically risk management, which is honed by experience.

When you're in a trade, don't ever will the market to do what you want it to do. When it does the opposite, your mind begins to doubt itself, giving itself more opportunities to sabotage itself in future trades.
