Here's my list of what I'm buying lately (end 2017):
Buying extra of these : BTCD, VTC, XVG, Decred, EMC2, VIA, PIVX. Synergy, MOON.
When Dash, LTC, MONA, GB correct - buy too.

SYS, ARK, GB, BTCD, VIA, XVG crashed hard. Too bad.
Added DOGE, MONA, GRS... Think BCD, DASH... STRAT.

Advice?? Decision is the hardest step.
Now the practical - you get a wallet first , on computer, phone.
Get few coins - BTC, LTC, Dash, Ether. ETC, DGB.
Buy from friends , LocalBitcoins...ATM machine...
Then register on exchange ....Research these on Reddit....
Bigger the better!!!
Exchange is also a wallet.... But not yours

Anyway, story of the day (I'm a little slow).

Bitcoin Unlimited has about 11 percent market share of all the "nodes" in existence.
Nodes can run Blockchain Unlimited software which would signal their support for increasing the block size. If 50 percent of bitcoin miners adopted Bitcoin Unlimited, there would then be two major blockchains and a "fork" would be created made of Bitcoin Core, and Bitcoin Unlimited.
Both blockchains would continue to run as long as there are nodes running them. But there would then be essentially two different coins – Bitcoin and Bitcoin Unlimited.
And this is why bitcoin has seen sharp declines in price, while other cryptocurrencies like ether have gained support.
"Bitcoin traders may have wanted to offset some of their exposure should a fork occur or the scaling deadlock continue, and ether seems to be the most promising alternative. Bitcoin-ether volumes have surged....

So what's up with this?? Two bitcoins - unlikely. One will overcome.

Thanks for starting this thread, I was thinking about starting one just like it. I'm invested in Ethereum Classic. Bought in at 1.50 its at 2.50 now, due to worries over Bitcoin stability is what I read. In any case smart contracts have great potential and I like the Classic people's response to the whole bad fork situation, so do many Chinese tech companies apparently. Hope it goes to 400$ some day. We shall see.

If i need to point the culprit - it's the Bitcoin Unlimited maniacs. I don't get these folks. What's their problem???

Did some reading, some checking their silly sites.....
Here's what i take.:

They don't care about the stability of Bitcoin, nor the future.
They care about random numbers... and paying for coffee in bitcoin. A jobless, useless or coach-potato type of thinking.???

BU will fork. Bitcoin believers will keep 1MB limit. SegWit is at 28% only!! Why???
BU is 37% now....so damn soon we can see orphans, small forks, big FORK.

What will happen next is a guess.
