Hi folks,
I post this hoping it will be of interest to some members. I was tired myself of the same boring alert, so I searched for a way to use some of my favorite mp3 files to replace the "alert.wav" file in metatrader.
Plan A.
Here are the steps I used.
1. Download a freeware or trial version of a mp3 to wav converter.
2. convert the song you want to use to Wav format
3. rename that song to "alert"
4. backup your original alert wav file
5. replace your original alert file with your newly created wav file.
Plan B.
Visit some of the many free download sites for wav files online. Find a few you like (fog horn, ambulance siren, laughing baby...etc) and rename them to alert, and then replace your metatrader alert with that one.
You will find your sounds folder somewhere like this on your computer
C:\Program Files\MetaTrader 4\sounds
It may not be exactly that, depending on the version of metatrader your are using
Here is the link I used to get my converter
http://www.goodeasy.net/download/amc.exe
The author of that software is apparently Christley and he kindly posted a free serial for some users to try, so to the best of my knowledge, this is not pirated software, but a gift from the software developer himself. And, HEY!...I might be wrong about that. So, dont shoot me if I am. If you are really worried, buy it at the homepage which you can find in the Help file of the program itself.
