You should best use on Google instead of asking silly question here.
If you really got interest on source code, Search .mq4 instead of .ex4 in Google.
Otherwise, search alternatives if possible.

Even the author release both .mq4 and .ex4, but you try to decompile the .ex4,
You are doing illegal task.
You lose your respect to author.

This is something like that there is a girl wears a dress in front of you.
Well, You pick her dress off and watch the panties without her permit.
Don't quibble that she always wear swimsuit and let you see.

As Cja explained you can not but there is possibility if you post the ex4,might be some one can help you find mq4 if there is
such cases mostly belongs to decompiled (stolen) codes and or renamed codes
Indicator is just a supportive tool-Use it only if it can benefit you

It's a good thing that now you can't convert .ex4 file to .mql4 coz no one would be protecting their hard work in coding and intellectual property

{quote} There's no problem at all with that way. You are using the freely available .mq4 source codes. The discussion here is more about pirating/decompiling the .ex4 file because the original .mq4 isn't available ...

With all respect to all arguments, its simpler said not to decompile and moral and ethics and all the wonderful words. All agreed and accepted. Only thing I wish to highlight is, if you have some .ex4 version of indicator available and downloaded freely, once new MT4 built comes in, that old .ex4 is no longer supported. If you have incorporated that indicator in your trading style and now you are stuck. You try to know the door of Author (and 100% of time he is already gone...no response) and 90% of time we even don't remember from where you have downloaded that indicator. So in that case, there is no option but to kepp "MORAL", "ETHICS" everything keep aside and continue searching to crack the code and recompile it to latest version so you can move on.
I don't think there is anything illegal or wrong in that.

Lastly, but mostl importantly, 'IF CODER IS SO WORRIED ABOUT IT FANTASTIC PIECE OF WORK SO AS TO KEEP IT SECRET LIKE HE FOUND HOLYGRAIL", why don't he keep it with him. Just don't publish it. If you think its so valuable piece of information, keep it secret, make millions by yourself, or go to professional selling website, prove your indcator worth there and sell it out there. What's the point of making .ex4 and than posting and boasting about it. To my opinion, its just, coder is not successful in his/her field and desperate about recognition, so, just make something, create .ex4 and post it and let people come to them asking for .mq4 code and that feeling of "I AM SOMETHING" is what they were craving for is fulfilled and they enjoy it.

Let's not discuss about "LEGAL" and "MORAL" thing, we all know, what's happening is real world and in forex world.

Let the Cracker and customer who wish to get it cracked, both decide mutually weather its worth breaking the code or just simply change your existing trading style or strategy and move on. There is no Holy grail in forex...so if cost of breaking is not worth, buyer will definitely move on and no worry for Author of his code getting revealed...

Just Relax..and have Happy Trading

It's fascinating how many mental loops you all go through.

If you had the money you'd just have the tool made for you. But you don't.

Decompiling software like from these guys { virus risk deleted by staff } OR Hex editor+debugger to map the ex4 and re-create the source code partly, although some ex4 files may be protected hard and you'll need a coder to do this .

Reverse engineering code isn't illegal , if you bought it or it was shared for free , it's open to all forces , if they wanted it private , they wouldn't have shared it .

Don't expect much help about it here , there are 'traders' who make more money coding and selling indicators than from actual trading .

I notified @Twee as the program offered at above link installs a trojan on your computer. The real website offers the decompiler as freeware and as public download.

There are decompilers you could try but if you're asking this question then the better option is to pay 5 bucks to a Chinese or Vietnamese coder on freelancer and they'll educate your EA faster than you can you'll lose your account deposit with it. If your EA has a DLL then it's going to take more work since they'll need to use a dissassembler but what is it you're trying to do? Comparing, copying, extracting, viewing, compacting or the more likely, stealing code?

Paying money for something doesn’t mean you bought it; for example purchasing a license does not make you the legal owner and therefore you have no legal right to decompile the code of which you purchased a license, unless stated in the license agreement. You would be making a copy, which is tightly controlled in the license agreement. The majority of software is sold as licensed, you accept the EULA, to avoid this very problem.

To access the indicators you have the .ex4 files in an EA, use the iCustom function. If you haven't used iCustom, do a search and you will find lots of info. You also need to know which buffer the values you are interested reside in. To see what the value is in each buffer, in MT4 open up the Data Window (Ctrl + D). When you hoover the mouse over a bar on the chart, the value for each buffer of each indicator can be seen in the Data Window. In the iCustom function, you would then specify the buffer whose value you would like to return. Play around...

Thank you for this tip on how to get the buffer value!

After decompiling, there are always errors, if the system is very complicated, I do not recommend decompile.

{quote} Ea's are not supposed to be a junk of indicators thrown together resulting in a set and forget setting which will start printing you money as soon as they are set up. They can support your trading process when correctly applied. I have overall good experience with EA's and would not be profitable without custom code I have written.

You can now download the old and free decompiler from my website. It decompiles .EX4 files generated with compiler versions up to build 509. It's the directory at the very bottom of that page.

ps: Ignore and skip the startup message about protection.
